I bought these boots last year and, for the most part, love them. They are incredibly comfortable and the leather is soft and supple. That being said, they do not hold their shape and slouch around the ankles after a while. Also, they are not waterproof! Water resistant yes, but if you step in a puddle your socks will get wet. I was very disappointed about this given the reputation that La Canadienne has. However, my Pajars and Blondos are completely waterproof. I trust Montrealers to know how to make good winter boots. I would purchase these boots again given that I have others to deal with the really nasty Canadian winter days. These boots are more of a gorgeous fashion winter boot that can make it from the car to a building in a snow storm while keeping you warm.

I agree with Bootaholic from Toronto, this is a beautiful, fashion boot that is very comfortable and fits larger around the calf. I have not tried the water test yet, but I will try to avoid water. I vary between a 9 and 9.5, but in La Canadienne the 9 is the correct fit. I also tried the Selwyn which is a closer fit and perhaps a bit more casual than this boot. They are both so comfortable, trying to decide if I really need both. This boot does not require any break in time, comfortable from the minute it is on. I find La Canadienne a better fit than Stuart Weitzman and truer to size.
Brands I'd also recommend: Cole Haan, Stuart Weitzman, Ugg, Jack Rogers

These boots are great, but they could be better. They aren't quite tall enough to really be completely over my knee, another half inch would be better. I also wish they were a bit more shapely in the ankle area, I have to send them back. Can't spend this much on an imperfect boot, but I will keep another style I bought of ankle boots! Love this brand!

Very attractive, soft boot. However, if you need a true 17 measurement, these won't work. I measured the size 9s I received at 16 inches. Since these have only a partial zipper, the opening at the top functions as a 'pull on' style...so it needs to get around your full calf even if you are slimmer at the knee.
