These pants fit great and they look even better! They ran large, so I ordered a 2 instead of my usual 4 in Kuhl. The fabric has a lot of flex and the drawstring inside the waist means I don't need a belt- great for hiking with a pack! Legs zip off for shorts that are the perfect length.

I first wore my new Raven Liberator yesterday on a 4 hour hike. It felt comfortable just like all the other Kuhls hiking pants I have. It was really the first "real warm" Spring day. The removal attachment was a little difficult to remove at first, but it was a very short learning curve. For reference I'm 5' 1/2", 115 #, not much of a shape. I bought the size 4, 30 inch inseam, fits perfectly.

I was really excited to get these Kuhl convertible pants for a 734 km hike. They fit PERFECTLY. I bought the size 4/30. I'm 5'6", and 120 #. The material is beautifully comfortable, with a slight 4 way stretch, but not overly stretchy. It would hold it's shape. It fit on my hips, where I like to wear my pants. The cons: ALL the pockets were too small to be functional. I could barely get my hands into them, let alone fit anything into them. Too small for a cell phone, definitely too small for a wallet or passport. Maybe if you liked to carry your gear in your jacket or vest or backpack this could work for you. I like my cargo pants to be functional. These aren't. The slim cargo pockets were SO slim (very cute) that IF I could fit my iphone in there (debateable), I'd never get it out! lol VERY CUTE, but I have enough cute pants; I need some serious gear pants, so I'd headed to check out the TNF Paramount Peak II.

Really good looking pants. True to size. I bought the size 4, and they fit comfortably. I'm 5'6", 120, and size 35 hips. They look really slim and trim. Very fit. The seams at the zip off leg were too binding for me. They'd drive me crazy on a hike. And since I'm buying them to walk the 734 km Chemin de St Jacques, that's a LOT of mileage with crimping seams. No; not going to work! Unfortunately for me, the pockets weren't functional. I'm needing to be able to carry my passport wallet and iphone daily, and the pockets just wouldn't accomodate these. I might be able to squeeze the phone into the side seam pocket, but I don't think I'd ever get it out again! lol The front and back pockets I would describe as petite. They really are flattering, but pretty useless if you need to carry something in them. So, back they went. I love Zappos easy returns. I guess I'll try the North Face, and see if the pockets will work for me.

I'd also recommend: The North Face

I bought these convertible pants after trying on many pairs, mostly because I liked the style. They look so much better than any other brand that I tried on. They seemed comfortable. On a backpacking trip last week, the fabric was durable and dried quickly. I put them on damp after rain one morning and they dried quickly with no chafing. The leg is easy to zip on and off without removing shoes. They were comfortable when walking on flat terrain. The problem that I had with them is that the thighs are cut too narrow and when climbing or hiking uphill, they squeezed my thighs. I had read reviews saying that the thigh pocket was too narrow to to keep anything in, which doesn't bother me, but I won't be wearing them on anything but flat terrain in the future. I'm going back to backpacking in more comfortable shorts.
