Khombu Reviews
I wish I went with something less stylish like the ones I bought for my family instead. My only complaint was the anterior ankle area was kind of weird. Didn't transition well and it would dig at the front top of my foot with every step. But it wasn't horrible, didn't cause any abrasions or anything.
I really enjoy these boots. They are comfortable and have actually kept my feet warm in extremely cold temperatures. I do like the fact that they are structured and waterproof and the base of the boot. I would say, however, the laces included with the boot are really too long and flop around. I had to purchase another pair of laces because they were just not appropriate for the boot.
I really wanted to like these! I already have a pair of shorter Khombus and thought these would be a slam dunk. But they are small! And the foot area is a bit weird, it feels shallow, especially in the heel, which makes my foot lift up weird and it just feels too unnatural, especially since I was hoping to get these to walk longer distances. The really nice thing is that there is no ridge in the heel where the lower boot meets the shaft, which I've run into in the past, causing blisters. I loved the cloth upper and the shiny patent leather-like strips and metal detailing. Easy to lace up, the fur is super cute and the interior lining is soft and warm. Too bad they didn't work out!
I really like these boots but having worn them only 6 or 7 times, I'm having trouble with separating seams. The separating is happening on both boots, both on the left side of the "fur" line running up between the laces. Right at the arch area. I don't have high arches but I think my arch starts before where this boot starts the heel because my foot does ride forward a bit when using nylon socks. Now, thicker socks for warmth the colder weather appear out of the question. They'll definitely have to go back. The separating seams are giving these new boots a "worn out" look already.
These boots are cute and a little dressier-looking than your average snow boot. They had absolutely no support and the footbed was extremely hard and unpadded, though, so I knew they wouldn't be comfortable for long and I doubt that the footbed would be very warm. They had to be returned.
Pretty decent looking as snow boots go. I sized up to a 7 (from my normal 6 1/2) to allow for winter socks. Usually in boots the standard B width is adequate for my slightly wide feet, but this one was far too narrow (especially the toe) and too short, even wearing just average weight socks. I often find boots a bit too snug in the calf, and this was no exception. All in, too small a fit, particularly since the best way to keep your feet warm in winter shoes is to make sure they're roomy and not constricting. They're going back, so I can't comment on durability, warmth, or water resistance.
These boots are so hot! I love them! I just got them today and was very scared they would be disappointment, but they are so cute and comfortable! I am normally an 8 but I ordered a 9 because I wear cashmere socks in the winter, so I tried them on with the cashmere socks and they fit beautifully. The tags say Waterproof, so I hope they are. The tread on these boots are much deeper than they look in the picture and I think they will work well in DC winter, which has been crazy the past couple years. I hope nobody else buys these so that I will be the cutest of the cutes, but most likely after reading this review, you will buy them and have to get buried in the snow by me. Love these boots! Thank you Zappos and Khombu.
I don't understand all the reviews below that claim this boot is "comfortable." It feels like cement under my feet. The bottom is literally rock hard, no cushion at all. My feet are cold in these, and I'm in a heated indoor environment. The height I measured at 2 inches, even though the product info says 1.5. My calves measure 12.5" around the widest part, and these are a little too big. The cuff sticks out and shows when worn under jeans - even more so when I try to lace them up tight - but they would work with skinny jeans underneath. I normally wear an 8 or 8.5, and the 8.5 in these too big. I'm definitely returning.
These felt kind of cheap when they arrived, but I had been looking for winter boots for a while and just decided to keep them. The lining is totally ripped after just 2 1/2 months. Don't buy them - they are poorly made.
I truly love this boot. I live in South Florida but needed something for a trip to Chicago where I did a lot of walking. My toes were never cold once, and though I often have pains in my feet from plantar fasciitis, these boots were as good as the perfect comfort of a Dansko. However, not the look of a Dansko. These are really stylish, and I felt great in them.
I purchased a pair for my daughter at Christmas time - she is on a college campus and walks everywhere. I thought these boots would be perfect for her. To our disappointment, they started to split down the back with in a month. I am not a happy mother.
I love these boots! They're so comfortable and look great too. They have kept my feet and legs very warm while walking around town. I'd highly recommend them.
I love these boots! They fit perfect. I was a little worried they would be tight around the top because I have big calves but they aren't. The lining is super soft. So far my feet have stayed bone dry while walking through melting snow and slush. Not exactly super super warm but my feet aren't freezing cold. Good buy! I love Zappos!
Very comfortable and warm. A great fit - did not size up or down and am not wearing heavier socks to help keep warm. Leather tie in back of boot is very poor quality, broke right out of the box. Replaced with leather shoe string to match and now am quite happy.
I bought these boots because I wanted three things: 1) to keep warm in ~20 degrees Fahrenheit in snowy NYC, 2) to be at least somewhat fashionable and 3) walk for an extensive amount of time in comfort. These boots achieved all three. They are pretty narrow, so those with wider calves should keep that in mind. You can always also adjust the laces to be less tight. I ended up being overly confident with these in the snow and my toes felt a little frozen after kicking around some snow for a bit and might want to double-sock it. They're also really fashionable. They don't look like super hardcore snow boots either. In fact, I think I can wear them in my native Miami and not look too silly. ;)
I wore these for one month when the back seam split and began leaking on both boots. Total garbage, totally not worth the money.
Went to Michigan in February and temp was in the teens. Boots kept my feet warm and dry. They fit true to size but I ordered 1/2 size larger for heavy socks. The tie in the back broke immediately but I replaced with brown athletic laces, put some decorative beads on them and they look great. Tie on the back is inconvenient.
Thanks to the previous reviews, I ordered one full size larger than I normally wear and they fit perfect! The laces make them adjustable to calf size. These are soft, warm, super comfy and very good looking boots! I get lots of compliments every time I wear them. I highly recommend!
