This sandal can be used for dressy or casual. My daughter is 8 and liles to wear funky to simply sophistcated clothing. These work very well as a very comfortable standby. She can even wear them through recess without any issues.
I'd also recommend: Camper kids

The shoes are cute, but when my daughter put them on, they were huge around the ankles, even on the last hole. She said they were not comfy...
