I expected more from a Keen shoe, even one for my four year-old. The sides of the shoes bit into my son's ankles the first time he wore them. The EVA product it is made of is very hard and there is a sharp seem around the ankle area. I used an exacto-knife to trim it down some but it is still sharp. Now he has to wear socks with the shoes I purchased for him to get wet. The adjustable cord lace is a pony-tail holder covered in a rubber-like coating which peeled off after the second wearing. The cord also stretched too far from the plastic end that you pull to tighten the cord lock and will soon rip loose. Other than those flaws I see as major durability and comfort issues the shoe is cute and would protect my son's toes but he doesn't want to wear them. I recommend you spend a little more for the Newport H2 which is hopefully more comfortable and durable.

I purchased these sandals for a trip to the beach with my 3 year old son. I was trying to find a suitable pair of sandals that wouldn't let him stub his toes or slip off when he runs around. My son takes a size 8 Stride Rite and the Toddler Size 8 Keens fit him well. Pros: They are easy for parents to put on and take off; the laces are easy to adjust; good arch support; easy to clean; protects the feet; nice wide footbed. Cons: I appreciate the design of these Keen Sandals but I was dissapointed that the entire shoe (excluding the very center and lace area) was one solid piece of rubber; sand sticks to the lace area and is hard to rinse off; extended use did develop blisters on inner ankle; frustrating for little fingers to get on, takes some practice. I am not sure I would buy these again. I have a feeling I will just be buying him another pair of Crocs for the summer instead.

Just an FYI, the Sunsport is all rubber, like a Croc would be. The pattern on the shoe is not fabric. I was wondering why they were so inexpensive. I still like them, just note, that it's not your regular Keen shoe.

DO NOT purchase these shoes if these are going to be your child's main summer shoe. I purchased a pair for each of my four kids and they are terrible! Two of my kids had blisters under their ankles, the toddler shoe is very tight around the top of the foot even when all the way loosened (my child has average sized feet), and the paint has come off on all of them - and we've only had them a few weeks! On one pair the bottoms of the soles have come completely off. They are cute and lightweight but not worth the money! I'm going back to the Timberland sandals.

My 5 year old loves these shoes, and I love that he can get them on and off himself. Great summer shoes that offer more stability and protection than regular sandals or flip-flops. Go easily from the pool, to hiking and fishing and even to church, all with one pair of shoes. Love the colors and pattern choices, so fun for kids! Would give them 5 stars overall except that the cording is plastic material and slips very easily out of the tightener. Also, my son did get some blisters from rubbing below his ankle bone, but it went away once he wore them for awhile. The price is a little higher than I would normally pay, but I know from experience that Keens last a long time, so I know these will be his only pair of summer shoes and hopefully they will go beyond that into the fall.

About Keen Kids
The Newport was just the beginning for the KEEN youth line. They now carry everything from sandals to sneakers and socks to bags. They have winter boots and hiking boots for boys and girls. They even have shoes that are perfect for school and backpacks to go along with them. They have a vast array of styles in infant, toddler and youth sizes so the whole family can wear KEEN from the very beginning.
KEEN is not just a footwear company, it's a way of life. KEEN created a company built on hybrid innovation, redefining the outdoors and giving back to the community. They call their way of life the Hybridlifeâ„¢ and they encourage everyone to pursue their own Hybridlife.

I ordered 2 pair of these shoes. One for my 5 year old and the other for my 2 year old. The moment they arrived the boys were so excited and put them on. They wore the shoes for the rest of the day (4-5 hrs) and no complaints. But when it was time to take them off I noticed both boys had blisters on the insides of both ankles. The 2 year old had dried blood around both of the blister spots and will not even go near these shoes anymore. I can get them on if he isn't paying too much attention, but within 5 minutes he’s telling me they hurt and he wants his orange shoes (Crocs). My oldest now wears them with out a problem. He doesn't get the blisters anymore and wears them to school with no complaints. So I guess it just depends on your child’s feet. One thing I will say is that when the oldest takes them off to get into the bath at night he has a crazy amount of dirt under his toenails, but so far there aren't any strange funky smells in the shoes. Otherwise a great shoe, if they don't cause blisters for your child.

The Keen Kids Sunport sandal is exactly what I was looking for for my active 3.5 year-old: it\'s light-weight yet durable, cute and easy to clean. Unlike the similar style sandal he had last year, which had fabric and velcro, this sandal is made of a rubberized material and therefore doesn\'t stink. It\'s definitely good value for the money. The only issue I had was that my son got a small blister on the inside of one of his ankles from the strap, but since it was adjusted properly, he has no complaints.

I love these Keen sandals. They are very rugged and durable. This is the third set I have purchased for my kids and like this pair the best. The other Keens were fabric and would hold foot odor badly by the end of the summer. This pair is made of rubberized stuff and so far no smell. Easy to clean up and great for kids.

My son has been wearing Keen\'s every summer for 3 summers. We love these shoes and think they were well priced. These shoes survive all of my son\'s misadventures and are in good shape to be hand me downs for friends when he outgrows them.

I have never been so disappointed in a pair of shoes. Within 2 days, the elastic has broken. The shoes are worthless. Unfortunately my son took the receipt-- and they are certainly no longer in original condition. So I have to throw them away. It's the first time I bought Keen's. I was so sure they would be great. Wrong.

I love them. I was worried that they would be weird since they're molded but the fact that my son's feet don't smell like crazy every day (his Keens from last year did that) is incredible. We were so tired of washing those shoes and his feet. These are unbelievable in comparison. He's worn them like crazy and we haven't had to wash his feet because of the smell yet!

Assuming both styles were comparable, I bought this style, Sunport, instead of the great Keen Kids Newport H2. My son's size was sold out. Big mistake! This style, Sunport, is very cheap. Stay away. The rubber strap rubs straight into the kids' ankles; my son got two blisters within one hour. He can only wear them with socks now, which, in hot weather, defeats the purpose of a sandal. Yes, they were cheaper than the Newport 2, but not worth it.

The size fit well and Keen is a good shoe. However, these gave my son bad blisters and he hasn't been able to wear them since.

Although this is a sandal, the plastic doesn't seem to allow much "breathing" room for feet. My son was left with blisters after one day of wearing them and refuses to wear them again...nor do I plan on making him. I love Keen sandals and was disappointed in this particular model.

My son had a pair of these last summer and a pair of Keen Newport sandals. If you are looking for typical Keen quality buy the Newports. They are more comfortable and never wear out. However, these were awesome for outside play in dirt, sand and water. They are rubber like Crocs but fit better so your child's feet won't slip when wet.

I love Keens, but was very disappointed in this shoe. I buy my two children a pair of Keens every spring/summer. When I purchased these for my son, I did not realize they were made from a different material than other Keens I had purchased in the past. They are made of an extremely light weight rubber material, a lot like "Crocs". They are very cute and lightweight so I went ahead and kept them to take on vacation. Unfortunately, they gave my son horrible blisters on his feet and he was unable to wear them. I will continue to purchase Keens, but next time will be more careful about reading which material they are made of.

Picture on these sandals is deceptive, the whole thing is made of plastic, similar to "Crocs" sold at Wal-mart etc. Not worth the price, in my opinion, when you can get a very similar shoe for much less. Even the "toe protection" is the same Croc plastic instead of being regular sandals with fabric straps and extra sole up front which is what I had expected in ordering them. My son won't even wear these.

Last year my son had Keen's for his summer sandal and we had no issues with them. I ordered these thinking they were the same but when we got them I noticed that they were kind of like Crocs. I put them on my 2 year old one time and they game him blisters on his ankles and he refused to wear them again. I was able to return both pairs that I had gotten and I will be getting him a pair of Newport H2s like he had last year.

I agree with everyone else that this is just a glorified Croc. The online pictures are misleading; you can't get the true feel of this shoe until you pick it up. We are keeping them, but realize that we paid too much for such a lightweight shoe. This is not typical Keen quality or protection.
Brands I'd also recommend: Buy any other Keen, like the Newport.
