Cute hightop sneakers. Easy to put on and to take off. Hightops are good for keeping a bit more of the mud and dirt off of the socks (and thus stand up better to spirited puddle stomping). My 21 month old likes them (yes, believe it or not she has clear opinions already) and we have gotten a lot of compliments from others.
I'd also recommend: Stride Rite
