Very nice boot for my purpose of working in them. They slip on and off easily. The only thing that I could improve on is the laces. Without double tying, they come undone quickly, but I simply use a trick going around the loop twice when tying a normal bow tie. I wear them with the walk fit orthodics and those fit in perfectly.

I got these Keens for my husband as a gift. He has to be the hardest person on earth to please when it comes to shoes - and he absolutely loves them. Perfect fit, comfort, support etc. "Definitely worth a five star rating" he says!

I'd also recommend: Merrill

Just bought a new pair of Keen's low-cut Gypsum this past week at Gander Mtn. Hiked and morel hunted for two days with them. Here are my findings. Positives: 1. Gander Mtn honored a cheaper price by an on-line competitor. Printed the add off of the internet, took it in and handed it to the shoe clerk, who then took it to the store manager, who immediately approved the lower price. 2. Was able to hike comfortably in them for 2 days, right out of the box. Was very impressed with the shoe in this regard. 3. Very comfortable toe box for wide feet. A huge plus for all of us hikers with wide feet. 4. Excellent toe guard....you can kick all the rocks you want with these shoes. 5. Great on flat terrain and gentle slopes. Pretty good on steep slopes . Negatives: 1. Gander Mtn sucks on their return policy. If, after hiking in them for those two days, a problem had developed with the shoes, I would have been screwed, as Gander Mtn has a zero tolerance shoe return policy on shoes that have been worn outside of the store. 2. I immediately replaced the paper-thin insole with a sofsole. For $115, you would think Keen would put in an insole that would at least get you through a few hours of hiking. Nope. 3. A little sloppy and loose in the heel and ankle areas while contour hiking on slopes. Shoes felt pretty good going straight up and down slopes, but contour hiking on the sides of the slopes made the heels and ankles feel a bit loose. I do a lot of this type of terrain hiking and bushwhacking, so this might be the ultimate downfall of these shoes for me. 4. KeenDry technology of being water proof is a bunch of bull. After walking in ankle high wet grass for about 15 to 20 minutes of morel hunting, and mind you, not one single puddle, my socks were completely soaked. If you read any reviews saying that KeenDry keeps your feet dry, it is a bunch of bull. Previous hiking shoes with Goretex were much better than what I experienced. In fact, I would go so far as to say that KeenDry is not even water resistant. Might as well spray them with water repellent right out of the box.

I'd also recommend: Danner, if they came in wide.

Very comfortable. Very waterproof, although I don't feel like the shoes breathe as well as Keen claims they do. They can get pretty hot on warm days. The shoes are tough. I've worn the doing tree work, roofing, construction and flooring without a scratch. That toe cap is tough. I'm gonna buy another set that isn't waterproof for use on hot days.
