Fit: the boots are very comfortable and I do appreciate the generous toe box. I ordered a size 11.5 and I'd say that the Keen Gypsum runs short and wide. They seem to be a full "D" width. These seem a bit wide in my heel, but orange superfeet seemed to help. Construction: I didn't notice any issues with construction. The shoes had a fairly strong scent to them though - somewhat oily, perhaps from a leather treatment or the glue. Waterproofness: they passed my tub test (10 minutes in the water). However, the leather lacks any real DWR treatment and it soaked through extremely quickly -- more quickly than some of my running shoes or dress shoes! My feet stayed dry, and Keen's waterproof/breathable membrane seems to work just fine. However, I've never seen a pair of "hiking boots" soak through so quickly - my Asolo Fugitives probably had the most bombproof DWR treatment, with Scarpa not too far behind. I can imagine that once these things get wet on the trail, they'll stay wet for a long time. This could be an issue in the winter - once the leather wets out, it'll freeze overnight. Comfort: excellent cushion and fairly lightweight. The soles have a pretty solid feel to them. This might sound strange, but my heel feels firmly and squarely planted on the ground when I'm wearing them - they feel very stable. My biggest complaint is in their lacing system. I don't really like the strap that runs from the 2nd lace (from the top) back around the heel. It looks like it will lock your heel firmly in place, but I can't seem to get it to lock my heel without over-tightening my toes. There seems to be too large of a gap between that loop and the top eyelets (which are standard metal clips). As a result, I feel like I'm over-tightening my toes, but I can't really get the top of the boots tight the way I like them. Maybe that will change as they break in? But they just feel somewhat loose around my ankles. Maybe it's the lacing, maybe it's just because the boots run a tad bit wide. But it makes me think that the low cut Keen Gypsum shoes would be a perfect low cut trail shoe.

Brands I'd also recommend: Vasque (for wider feet)

I bought these for daily wear and light to moderate hiking, mostly along streams so I was looking for something waterproof. The Gypsums felt very comfortable right out of the box, except that my left great toe smashed into the top of the toe box when going down stairs and hills. I normally wear an 8½, but need a 9 in the Gypsums. The style is great and my right foot was pretty happy with the wide toe box except that these boots do not seem to breathe. My feet became very hot after a very short time of walking. I have worn Gortex flight boots for over a decade in all sorts of climates including deserts and jungles and never experienced the foot heat that I did with Keen Dry. I also found it difficult to tie these boots tight with their lacing system. I had to return these initially because of size, but ordered something else because of the lack of breathability. This was my first Zappos experience, so I called customer support for assistance. Jessica was incredibly helpful. I am definitely a new Zappos fan.

I ordered these boots, and had them sent to China, where I was planning a multi-day trek. I wear a size 13-13.5, which was impossible to find in Asia. Lucky for me, these hiking boots fit great right out of the box. They needed zero break-in time, and didn't give me a single blister. I did swap out the insoles the boots came with for a set of superfeet insoles. The boots are quite stylish, and my ankles felt supported. They had moderate traction - enough for gravel, but felt a little slippery in the rain. I ordered size 13, and am more comfortable wearing thick socks with them.

I'm liking these. Very light and supportive at the same time. Good arch support and very cool color. I have another pair of Keens and I think they make great shoes for the money.

Met all expectations. Takes a while to get used to mid height. Sole clearly better than Targee II with respect to wear as well as not feeling trail rocks. Tends to be hot on warmer days. Fit is good if you get 1/2 size larger. Toe box is good for wide feet. Would recommend.

These boots are amazing. I took them out of the box the night before I hiked the Franconia ridge. With no time to break them in they were by far the most comformitable pair of hiking boots I have owned. I ordered two different sizes due to other reviews and found my actual size 9.5 fit perfect. I did not have to do any up or down sizing.
