My daughter is a petite first grader, and so far she loves these boots for everyday school wear. The opening around the knee we found to be a bit roomier than needed, so if your family genes include nice, full calves, this boot may serve you well. I had originally puchased this boot with the intention of having it serve as dual-purpose winter weather boot, but I'm not sure that the zipper or sole is as sturdy as it needs to be for more rough play and pull from cold fingers in a hurry. I believe the reinforced toe-kick portion of the boot led me to believe that the boot could work a bit more off-road. But the copper color is a nice change from plain brown, and still goes with most of my daughter's wardrobe, which is a real plus on rushed school mornings. And her pants fold inside the boot without too much trouble. All in all, a good boot for wandering the sidewalks in autumn.
Brands I'd also recommend: Umi, pediped, stride-rite

I purchased these for my 4 year old daughter. I love the rubber front and style. However, the material is awful! Within 2 days of where them they started to almost peel in places.

My daughter loves these boots. She has however complained that they don't fit tight enough around her ankle and calf. That has not stopped her from wearing them and bragging that she's Jesse from Toy Story. These don't fit anything like cowboy boots and they're more Euro looking and boat-ish. They are very well made! Quality is outstanding.

My daughter loves these shoes. They go great with skirts and leggings. She is actually a size 12.5, and that size was not offered, so I opted to go with the 12 because I knew she'd swim in the 13's, and the 12's fit great with a little room to grow.

These adorable boots lasted less than 10 weeks before they burned a hole in the heel. Totally not worth the money. I am completely disappointed with the quality and question a product this crappy being on Zappos at all.

Cute, but she'll take a while to grow into them...my daughter normally wears a 13-1, I ordered a 1 but they were way big. She of course doesn't mind and tromps around in them anyway.

I love these boots! My daughter is four and we bought these to replace the rain boots she was wanting to wear every single day. So, now she wears these every single day. She is very hard on shoes and these have held up great! We did lose one sparkle early on, but she was wearing them at the playground with many trips down the slide, so that does not surprise me. I have been trying many brands lately and none of them seem to hold up very well. Stride Rite and Umi have continued to fail us in durability. I will definitely make Jumping Jacks (Balleto) a must brand for us in the future. We have these in Pewter and they look like new after a month of daily wear. I do agree that the calf fits more like a rain boot (loose). My daughter certainly does not care.
