Josef Seibel Reviews
I love these shoes now that I have put a insole inside. They are fine in the length but the width is quite wide. A pad raised my foot up a bit and now the shoe is tighter and very comfortable. I've gotten lots of compliments on them - from some very hip and fashionable people too.
I own two pairs of these shoes, one in the black and the other in brown. They are my daily "go to" shoes. The tongue (for lack of a better word) was pressing down on the top of my foot, sending them to sleep quickly, so I took both pairs to a cobbler and had that removed and then just had matching stitching put across the front, where it was removed and you can't even tell that a tongue was ever part of the shoe. The black pair... sigh, it's been a struggle and I've removed the insert and put in Dr. Shoals gel inserts and then cut down some arch support gel to place under the insoles in an attempt to get them to have a better arch support system. I don't understand how two shoes exactly the same can be so different in feeling?? Even with all the fussing and fidgeting I've done with these shoes, they are still my favorite pairs.
I bought this shoe, as I suspect many others will/did, because it's a grown-up version of a Converse sneaker. It scores high on the cute front; this is a shoe that looks great with short skirts, casual dresses, shorts, and skinny jeans. However, it about killed me. It has no arch support and no cushioning. None at all. So if you have young, healthy feet and need nothing between you and the pavement, buy away. I had to throw these out because every time I wore them I was uncomfortable and then suffered terrible Achilles pain on my next run. I'll also note that the upper scuffed quickly and some stitching came loose on the side, making it not durable enough to justify the price. My advice is to skip this one.
I like the shoe. Sand color is much darker than shown, almost a mustard tan color. Wider at the instep. Velcro helps. Deciding whether to keep them as I had wanted a much lighter shade. Very comfortable, however.
I love this shoe. I usually wear a size 39 and accidentally ordered this shoe in a 38...to my surprise it fit perfectly. I own several pairs of Josef Seibel shoes and my size is consistent. This shoe must run a bit big. Regardless, it is very comfortable. I wish I had 8 more like it.
As someone else said, this shoe is a great shoe for someone dealing with bunions. The shoe is very comfortable. It has flexibility and the heel is not too high. The shoe looks professional and is good for walking long distances or for standing in a museum. My only reservation is that the shoe seems a little short in length from other other Siebel shoes I have had in the same size.
Such a cute and stylish casual shoe. I purchased the metallic to dress up summer jeans. I usually wear a 7.5 shoe, or a 39 Euro size. The 39 was too long so I exchanged for a 38 and that fit perfectly. The width was still ample for a slight bunion on one of my feet. I will buy more colors when my budget allows!
Absolutely love this shoe! Very comfortable, yet cute. I have plantar fasciitis and over pronation. So I usually have severe foot pain with any high heels - these were great, no pain! They have and a good arch support, which is difficult to find. I wear them with skinny jeans or with skirts or dresses. Completely agree with the other review - the black can appear a navy, which is what I was looking for.
This is the perfect walking shoe. Wider toe box to fit a wider foot, comfortable, arch support...it will be perfect for those walking vacations, New York City, anywhere you are walking an need a good, comfortable, and attractive shoe.
I LOVE this shoe! My sister has a pair and after admiring them all weekend, I bought some for myself. A GREAT walking shoe, and great work shoe. so cute and works well with pants and skirts alike. My sister has a fairly narrow foot and normally wears a size 7. she wears a 37 in this shoe. I have a fairly wide foot and normally wear a size 8 (sometimes 7 1/2) and wear a 38 in this shoe. Because the shoe has a strap, I could also have worn the 39. Note: the black is a matte black and looks almost navy blue. if you are looking for a dark navy shoe, this would work. I may end up with all 3 colors!
I do own several other pairs of this brand and have been a fan of JS for a long time. Having said that, I really do not understand the rave reviews for this particular shoe. The shoes looked cheap. My other Seibel shoes have a rich-looking leather and even the sole looks well made. This pair looked cheaply made and the leather was thin. The toe box was narrow and uncomfortable. I did not even have to think about sending them back.
The only reason that I returned these was that they were too big. I usually wear a size 36 or 37,the 37 were too big. Also the strap in the back does not adjust which I did not know.
Great shoes with a touch of sassy color. I get lots of compliments and they feel really comfortable. Not my first Seibel's so I knew the fit.
Really wanted to love these shoes. They are just too darn loose/sloppy for my skinny feet and a size down would have been too short. The color and leather hand is like butter. BTW - the sand color is a little bit lighter in person. Darn it, had to return...
I a so happy to write a review for this great shoe. I ordered them 1 day before a 10 day trip, they arrived the day of, loved the look and took them with me. From the "get-go" these shoes were the cutest, most comfortable shoes and I received compliments every time I wore them on the trip. So very comfortable, I may order another color, although the hibiscus really acts as a neutral! I have a narrow foot but the strap is adjustable so the fit is fine!
These shoes are exactly what I was looking for. They look great with jeans or slacks and are very comfortable. I think I will buy a second pair to have in stock just in case they stop making them.
This shoe would be very comfortable EXCEPT that there are two places where knots in the stitching rub my foot painfully. I'm getting around it with Bandaids for the present and hoping that the problem areas will soften. It feels like some kind of starch or varnish was applied to prevent the thread from unraveling. Also, these shoes are a bit wide around the heel, but the adjustable strap solves that potential problem.
Very cute shoe, and I thought I would keep it when I opened the box. But the edge of the left inside heel (and I think that foot is a tad bigger) just didn't feel right. Something about the way the side is sewn to the sole didn't work with that foot. Wish it had - loved the way it looked, the color Camel, and the good rubber sole. The other foot was very comfortable, and it's a style that would have been really useful. All three straps across are adjustable. Josef Seibel is one of my favorite brands, for how comfortable they are, and how long they last.
These shoes are great for working on your feet all day, and they look cool too! I had the older version of these Josef Seibel shoes and they served me well for over a decade. Especially comfortable for walking the cobblestones in Europe. I was thrilled to find that Seibel started making this style again! Although technically a sandal, they work year-round and look good with pants, skirts and capris. This time I bought two pairs - one black and one brown. They are a little sturdier and stiffer than my old ones and I hope that they wear as well.
This shoe fit me just a teensy bit wide in one foot, but over all, the fit was very good and true to size. Note that the Mary Jane strap that crosses at the instep is not adjustable, although it is attached with elastic, so there is some give. The Nut color is, to my eye, about the color of peanut butter. It is not a particularly dressy shoe--I probably will not wear it with suits. But it will be fine for dressy pants or for jeans. I think this will make a great travel shoe: easy on and off at the airport, and no exposed toes to freeze or get luggage dropped on when you're on the plane. It should be comfortable for walking too. if you want something for warmer weather that covers your toes and heels and is not heavy or clunky, this is it.
