J&M Emery Kiltie Tassel -
I like this shoe very much. Overall quality very good but unlike a lot of shoes, they are more difficult to break in. Leather along sides of shoes wrinkles and appears to be very thin however; time will tell if they wear improperly.
Other Brands Recommended by Reviewer: Any of Zappos shoes...I've done this often.

Soles are very slippery, to the point of being dangerous. My third pair so I know what to expect.

Nice looking shoes, many compliments so far. A little stiff at first, but fit better after a week or so. I would always recommend Johnston & Murphys. I’ve owned 4 different pair so far.

Good shoe, once you get the correct size.
These shoes are awesome. You just need to know that they fit a whole size larger than marked. I bought these for my dad who wears a 16E usually. I had to send them back and get a 15E. Now they fit perfectly. No worries though, the folks at Zappos are perfect with returns. So if you need to try a couple of sizes to get the right one, it's worth it. It's a nice, classy shoe.

Disappointed -
Unfortunately, I have been very disappointed with this shoe. The fit is not true to size - it's actually bigger. The leather doesn't hold up particularly well - it got worn too quickly, and not in a nice way. On top of that, and perhaps I got a defective pair of shoes, but they do not shine up very well.
I've only had the shoe for a couple of weeks and already I have no use for the. I would have given this shoe zero stars, but that was not an option.
I would like to say that working with the Zappos people is a real pleasure and it is one of the best online merchants out there. However, I hate the shoe.

Low Instep, Thin Leather -
If you have a high instep (the top of your foot, above the arch) these shoes will take some time to learn who is boss. The look great, but will hurt the top of your foot for a week or so, then the pain will be bearable. Leather is a bit thin, not quite what I'd expect from J&M. But overall an ok shoe.

Normally I am tortured with new shoes until I break them in. This shoe felt like I had owned it for a month the first day I wore them!!!

Really Nice Shoe -
Pretty much wore out my Florsheim Imperial Comos and thought I try this one and am very pleased. It is a bit flashier and is comfortable in spite of my high instep. Normal fantastic Zappos service.

Johnson-Murphy loafer -
This pair of shoes replaced the exact shoe I had purchased previously. They are an excellent shoe that looks and wears well. When I ordered the shoes I received them the next day. They fit true to size and I will most likely replace them with another pair exactly the same.

Nice look but snug fit -
An overall nice looking shoe. As always, Zappos service is excellent. The shoe is a bit to snug across the top of my foot. It didn't seem bad at first but after wearing them for several hours, it became more apparent. By that time, it was too late to return. I'm hoping that they will give a bit with some wear.

12 C black -
Ordered these Johnston/Murphy Kiltie tassel in 12C black to replace ones my husband has been wearing for years that are finally getting to old to be presentable...he loved then at first wearing...he wears a 12 narrow and can't find any B or C widths in our local area--stores just stock regular or wides even in expensive shoes...I have ordered from Zappos before and their turn-around time is so good that there is no reason NOT to use them...My husband hates to shop for anything except golf merchandise anyway so I wind up buying and bringing home for his approval whatever I buy for him...I bought two styles in black loafers for him to try one and he preferred this one--although the other fit as well...so I will have to return them--but would have had to do the same if they were purchased locally...

Excellent choice for business and dress attire.
After having gone through numerous heels and finally wearing out my Mezlan Havana's I wanted something different. I chose these J&M shoes and absolutely love them! Great look for business attire or with my suit. It took one wear to break them in and they feel perfect. Don't forget to "scuff" the soles a little when new. Spendy but, worth it.
