Very comfortable shoes and there is no break in period. The soles are padded and it feels like walking on pillows.

These are great shoes. Modern, yet classic at the same time. And very comfortable to boot. I have slightly wide feet, but I still think these run a tad narrow. I tried on size 9 and 9 1/2 at Macy's, and both were too tight in the width. Size 10 fit, but they were too long. Macy's didn't carry the wide sizes, so I went online and found Zappos. I ordered 9W, and, fortunately, they fit just fine. The sheepskin insoles are very soft and comfortable. No break-in period involved. These are shoes you could be on your feet in all day. I bought a pair of the mahogany color (Zappos' pictures are a very good representation of the color) and like them so much I plan to get a second pair in black.

I was pleasantly surprised when I put these shoes on and they were comfortable right out of the box. I usually suffer through a break-in period with most dress shoes but not these. They look good and don\'t hurt my feet even when walking long distances.

These shoes are very elegant and comfortable! I own two pairs and love them both. Zappos also saved me money by quickly shipping them to me for free!

Johnston & Murphy Dobson - I've been wearing these shoes for a few weeks now and really like them! The best feature, for me, is that they go through my workplace's metal detector so I don't have to take them off and put them back on every time I go through the front door. I think they look very nice. The only downside is that I think they make my feet sweat a little bit. All in all a very good shoe.

Best Dress Shoes ever - I've always had a terrible time finding dress shoes that fit my foot correctly. Not only do they fit correctly, they look great, too. I don't think I'll ever go to a different brand.

Softest shoe I've ever had - Most dress shoes I've bought the past 20 years were the "Florsheim Royal Imperial" type - very good shoes, but hard leather uppers that were very tough to break in. Well to my surprise the Johnston & Murphy was soft as glove leather! No break in period AT ALL! These are the best shoes I've ever purchased. Comfort, feel, look - all are top notch! The shoes hug your feet like a fine Italian racing glove! I ordered the slip on first, didn't like the look, called customer service and they just switched out the slip on for the "lace up" without charging me again! I'm not just a satisfied customer - I am "CUSTOMER ECSTATIC!" The fit was perfect, delivery took one day from the time I re-ordered, and I'll be ordering the same one in black soon. Thanks to Zappos! The ONLY shoe store that I shop at and the best customer "ecstatic" service ever!

Too narrow for me...sad to see it go! The other comments about these shoes feeling already broken in are spot on. The leather feels rich and supple, and were it not for the width (EE not quite wide enough for me); I would have happily kept the shoes. I ordered a pair of Rockports in 12EE (having previous Rockport experience), and they fit fine, although commensurate with price, quality of materials was not quite the same. Zappos' service was absolutely superb through the purchase and exchange process!

An excellent shoe - The quality and craftsmanship of the shoe is excellent. Though it does fit a bit larger than I expected, it's incredibly comfortable. Stylistically, the shoe is great looking. Overall, a worthwhile purchase.

Great all around shoe - I like the shoe a lot. It can dress up to fit with slacks or even a suit, but also dress down to fit with jeans. The leather is pretty soft, and I can see it will show wrinkling, which will end up part of the style, so to speak. Also, not nearly the arch support of the Aldrich II Trampoline shoes, but moderate and still very comfortable to walk in.

Great everyday work shoes - Are these shoes going to set the world on fire with their style? Nope. Are they incredibly comfortable, well-made, and reasonably priced? Yep. I have no complaints. They seem to be very true to size, and they have an almost "pre-broken-in" feel. Some men's dress shoes can be really stiff and tough to break in; these were nice and soft and easy to walk around the office in right out of the box. No regrets and I'd definitely buy again.

Looks great, feels... alright. I got these shoes to go with a wardrobe overhaul for my new consulting job. I've worn them once so far. The shoe looks great: sleek, subtle silhouette, no distractingly ornate designing. Just to give perspective, I wore the shoes with a $1,000 business suit and they did not look outclassed. There's an appeal to the "air-bag"-like effect of the shoe’s ergonomically effective insoles. However, that same technology also produced a side-effect of making an odd noise whenever I walked, sort of something equivalent to the sound of walking in soaked sneakers ("Is our new guy coming to the briefing?" "Squish... Squish..." "Oh, yes sir, I can hear him coming down the hall right now."). The good news is that the noise goes away once your weight has essentially decompressed the air from the insoles and the insoles still remain comfortable. So, let's call this no harm, no foul. Perhaps, a more serious problem is that by the second half of the workday, the shoes started to pinch my toes (at the sides of the toe box, not the tops). I wear a size 11 medium usually without problems, but I do think that my feet are a little bit on the wide side. The other factor is that, as I already said, this was my first wearing of these shoes, so it's entirely possible that I just need to wear them more to break in the leather. However, given that I've tended to have shoes that never required me to undergo the "breaking-in" phenomenon, I tend to hold the higher standard that you shouldn't have to go through pain and discomfort, even at your first wearing. Still, my bottom line is that these are a handsome pair of shoes and if you're willing to risk a little break-in time (and perhaps do some Riverdancing in the men's room to get the air out of the insoles), you'll definitely reap the reward of looking good. Just don't let your boss walk in on you in mid-Riverdance in the men's room because well, that just wouldn't be good... Unless your boss likes Riverdance in which case the two of you can Riverdance to your hearts' content! Just, please, hold on tight to each other because those bathroom tiles can be slippery in leather (or even synthetic) dress shoe heels.

Comfy Dress Shoes - These are the most comfortable dress shoes I have ever owned. Truly as soft and supple as a sneaker yet a stylish dress shoe. I wanted to immediately buy another pair, but my size was sold out! I want to stock pile these things and never wear another shoe! If you can find a pair in your size BUY IT!

Very long shoes... I picked up this shoe in a store and had to have it. I wear a size 11 in most shoes, told store clerk to bring out a size 11. Put them on-like wearing soft leather socks-I don't see how they could be any more comfortable-BUT-they were so comfortable I didn't bother checking the toe in them. About an inch too long...Went back to store-size 10 the right length, but they don't make them in a wide version in this style :( (I bought the Shuler's too-same problem-took back and got the 10 wide. Correct length, but still too narrow). Will be taking back tomorrow. Wore the Dobson’s for a few days and scuffed the bottom-can't take back-BUT I'm keeping them, I don't care that they are too long-that's how comfortable they are...

Great all around shoe - The single best thing I like about J&M shoes is that I have never had to break in a pair. I can wear them right out of the box without my feet ever hurting. I like them so much that I bought both colors.

Two thumbs up - This is an extremely comfortable, nice looking shoe. The only drawback is that the toe of the bottom of the shoe seems to scuff very easy. Would I still buy them again - definitely.

Great shoe, a little big - Runs a little big and wide. Good looking shoe and incredibly comfortable. Lacks a little style, but a good basic look.

Comfortable and flexible - The shoe was comfortable out of the box. Its look melds two different styles and is appropriate for suits, but could be worn more casually. My only complaint is about the laces; there are too few eyelets to lace, and in order to tighten the shoe snugly to my foot, I have to tighten the laces all the way. I'm concerned that some day as the leather stretches that I won't be able to tighten the shoe completely. Overall, they are very comfortable, and one could expect to spend several hours on their feet without any problems.
