The story of JanSport bags and apparel begins in 1967 with three friends and their love for the outdoors. Jan Lewis, Murray Pletz and Skip Yowell lived in Seattle when they created their first framepack and the first panel loading daypack. Murray had just won a design contest for "The Best New Use of Aluminum" for the framepack the trio had fabricated in the transmission shop of Skip's uncle. Once climbers on Mount Rainier and other Northwest peaks saw the new pack, they wanted one for themselves. The rest is JanSport history.

My daughter wanted this bag for school. The stores near us didn't have it. Three work days before school starts worried that it couldn't get to us if we order online. Luckily Zappos has the bag with next day shipping. We ordered on Tuesday and got it Wednesday. Thanks Zappos.

Good pack if you're just looking for a basic. Not too big, not too small. Think the straps to hang your thumbs in are genius!

Great Jansport quality, fast delivery from Zappos. This bag was the exact size I was looking for; bigger than the half pint, but just a tad smaller than the superbreak. The straps are padded but the back is not. I thought I could tolerate it, but after carrying it for about a week I decided I prefer a padded back. Gave it to a friend who loves it!

Good, basic backpack. I needed something 6-inches-deep to fit my lunch box (and this is). Most backpacks are either 3 or 8+ inches deep, so it was nice to find something in-between. I wish the front section had pockets or other dividers, but it's just a basic JanSport. What you see is what you get.
