This is an excellent boot. Good toe room, soft and comfortable, though not quite as right-out-of-the-box as my Keen boots. It's good looking, sorta traditional with a bit of style, and the sole is a good contrast and doesn't make the boot look like a two or three-tone 57 Chevy.

I've worn my Red Wing Softpaws for almost ten years now. Mostly walking to work, and hiking on the back roads and trails with the dog. There's no doubt in my mind that I must have 5000 miles on them, and they are starting to look tired. I oil them four times a year and usually alternate days with another pair of boot, but these have been far a away the best and most comfortably boot I've had. The sole are in fact soft. I wouldn't recommend them for really rough terrain hiking, but for the back roads and urban walks they simply can't be beat. I'm currently waiting for Zappos to get some larger sizes in stock and I'll be ordering a new pair.
