These boots are durable and very light weight. I bought them for work but they look awesome and now I don't want to mess them up. They do run big, I usually wear a 9.5 in Timberland boots. With Red Wing's I'm more like an 8.5. I had to exchange for a smaller size and Zappos sent it next day air! I was pretty happy when I seen them sitting on my step. Awesome boot! Awesome company! Happy customer!

I live in my boots. I ride...a lot. After wearing heavy steel toe boots for most of my adult life I got talked into these. Light weight, true to size fit. I put a Red Wing orthotic in them. Excellent boot.

This is a great boot. I have had them over a year and did not use them much until the never ending winter of 2013 - 2014 and could not be happier with their performance. I used snow seal on them as they are not marketed as waterproof, and spent hours on end out in the snow with warm dry feet. They did take a while to break in especially across the top of my foot, but they are super comfortable now. I would highly recommend them to anyone that wants a stylish durable boot. As another reviewer mentioned they are made in China which isn't great but that's how Red Wing keeps them cheap.

Boot guy here...I wear boots and only boots. Have had my 807's now 6 months...high quality boot. In the construction industry, I have tried several brands, these are as good as any brand I've had. My son swears by them (also in the construction industry) so I just had to try them. Thanks son!

These boots fit perfectly and are great looking. Very comfortable and rugged boot. I wore them in the middle of winter pulling a truck out of a snowbank. My feet stayed warm and dry. Sole is very aggressive. I would recommend for anyone looking for a great all around boot.

Very good comfort and well built. It looks like a bigger shoe but wears very light. Incredibly comfortable and provides a very solid step too! I am very happy with mmy purchase and expect/hope these last a VERY long time.

I purchased for my Husband, he said 'very uncomfortable' 'sole is dangerously slippery in his line of work. Works in construction, diesel mechanic.. Slippery on machinery...walking on shop floors.

I was reluctant to spend this kind of money on a pair of boots, but I am glad I did. This is by far the most comfortable, warm, and dry pair of boots I have ever owned. After wearing these boots at work for a month, I have put then to the test. I waded around in ankle deep water and my feet stayed completely dry! I bought these mainly because I was having problems with a sore right foot. Since I started wearing these boots instead of the cheaper ones my foot pain has decreased significantly. I would not hesitate to buy these again. As a matter of fact I am going to look at their line of summer work boots and order a pair of those. They have won a customer for life for making the best quality and comfortable boots I have ever worn.

I've owned a lot of boots, both casual and hiking, in my life. Many of them have been of very high quality construction, and many have been very comfortable. I tend to cycle through boots every year or two (I'm 45 years old). These are hands down the best boots I've ever owned. I bought them specifically for spring turkey hunting (I'm new to the sport), but the season is still about a month off and I can't get these off my feet. They are super-comfortable, lightweight, and extremely rugged. Build quality is about as good as I've ever seen in footwear. I've worn them daily, as well as on some light hikes. This coming weekend I'll be putting some serious backwoods mileage on them, and I'm certain they will perform very well. I couldn't be happier with these boots, and am considering buying a second backup pair, on the off chance that they discontinue them. HIGHLY recommended.

I finish concrete floors for a living and have bought Red Wings for last 15 years and I found this site from a friend and love it. I hope Red Wing keeps these boots for a long time the smooth sole and fit is the reason that I buy these boots. I know lots of finishers that love the smooth sole. Thanks for the great service!

These boots are amazing. They are very comfortable and fairly light. I use them for work and I am very happy with my purchase. I am also very happy with Zappos return policy. I ordered a different brand and I didn't like the fit or feel of the boots. They gave me full credit back for the return and I had the Irish Setter's within 2 days.

I am very pleased with these boots. I am on my feet all day and even on the days it's -35 (with wind chill) I have warm and dry feet. Overall I would buy these again in a heartbeat. Only critique is I wish they also made them in an 8" high version. It's my preference to leave the very top hooks unlaced so not a deal breaker for me.

I have been wearing steel toed work boots for all of my adult life and I have never worn a more comfortable and stylish pair. I am 51 years old and typically am on my feet 10 hours per day. At the end my day my feet are not sore or tired. I highly recommend this brand and style.

I bought these boots based on two factors: 1) most of the reviews were positive and spoke highly of their durability and 2) their looks/aesthetics. Even though I've worn boots before, this was my first time purchasing a "real" pair because what I wore in the past were more along the lines of boot-styled sneakers. Until now, I'd been unaware of concepts such as a "breaking-in period" for leather boots -- and boy, did I need to try and break these in! The problem is basically that these boots run too small (and possibly a tad narrow -- although I suspect the feeling of narrowness is exacerbated by how I can't lay my feet down straight). When I tried them on at home upon receiving them, sure, they felt somewhat stiff, but I figured that was normal with such a heavy-duty boot (due to my inexperience). I also thought that "real boots" are supposed to not let your feet move around inside them. I made the grievous error of immediately wearing them to work, and it was at that point that I realized these boots were too small. Since I can't return them once they've been worn outdoors, I'm stuck with them. I tried stretching them with rubbing alcohol and multiple thick socks, and that helped some with the narrowness, but not the length. As of now, I intend to take them to be professionally stretched at a shoe-repair shop (if possible -- I've read that you're screwed if you've got the wrong size since stretching is more about increasing the comfort and "give" of a boot that is already the correct size). I'm disappointed with Irish Setter because my whole adult life I've worn size 10.5 and gone through numerous shoes -- what IS with someone calling their boot that size when it's really closer to a size 10 or 9.5? I will say, however, that I received more compliments than I ever have on my footwear with these -- people I know in real life spoke of how these boots "last forever." Those who are loyal to this brand really believe in it. Part of me wants to order another pair in the correct size, but given how expensive they are, and my bad experience, I'm looking at other brands. They do feel very solid, though. I have worn them in thick snow (partly to test their water-resistance) and they handled that with ease whereas many other shoes & boots would've proved unsuitable. And even though I haven't actually tried it, I feel like I could put them through just about anything and they'll survive it. They feel warm & comfortable too, or at least I feel they truly would (in case of the latter attribute) if they were the right size. Another subtle issue that's preventing me from ordering a size 11 is that the fit is a little funny to me -- it's as though my heels have room behind them, but the toe box is crushing my toes. Perhaps my feet aren't meant for these. We'll see.

I have a four year old pair of Irish Setter Countrysiders. They have taken almost everyday use, I have walked a lot of miles in them, and they have maintained their good appearance and waterproof construction. The laces even held up, too. My only complaint is that the foam soles have worn out faster than I would have liked. I wish they had designed the soles a little tougher to match the rest of the shoe's durability; then this would be a truly be a great shoe and worth the high price they are now asking for them.

I bought these for my husband and he absolutely loves them! There was no break in period. I was able to wear them right out of the box. He has a narrow heels and most work boots come in a regular width and his foot moves around in other boots - but not these. They fit like a glove, and he says they are very comfortable.

After researching other Irish Setter models, I decided to purchase these back in December. Some negative aspects to these boots are the vibram soles. They get rock hard when it's cold out. If you're walking around the job site, it sounds like you're wearing tap dancing shoes. Another downside is the big heel. When you first put them on you'll feel like you're wearing hockey skates. While the overall boot construction is good, I cannot recommend these. I will purchase the wingshooters in a few months.

Very nice boot. I'm in construction, and am versed in boot. I bought these hoping for a good fit (caveman width feet) and long lasting comfort in an everyday shoe/boot. I got both in Spades! The Great Northwest is a perfect place for these waterproof gems, though not as breathable as I'd like. At first concerned but after 8 months Sole is holding up great, and leather is quality. Not recommended for the job site, but great for everywhere else around town and city.

I have worn Irish Setter 6" boots for some time and wanted a slip-on shoe of equal quality. The steel toe is great if you have normal feet. I have a hammer toe and it rubs the steel toe on the top of the shoe. I have removed some of the foot bed to provide clearance and that works. Redwing is to come out with a non-steel toe version in Aug 2014 I will certainly buy that one. Soles are great non-slip vibram type soles great for garage floors and slippery surfaces.
