All inov-8 footwear goes through extensive testing by enthusiasts and elite international athletes to guarantee they perform like they should. Their whole design development process centers on optimizing the end user's performance. The uppers of inov-8 shoes are extremely functional with mesh in the forepart and tongues for maximum breathability. This creates a good climate that helps you run at your best. When you run through water and the shoe gets soaked, it creates a pumping action that expels the water from the shoe allowing it to dry quickly. The lace webbing is positioned allowing a secure foothold without altering the natural alignment of the metatarsals. The back of their shoes are cleanly cut which allows your Achilles tendon to experience high levels of comfort and minimum restriction- particularly when running downhill.
The inov-8 team is made up of experts with proven track records in the footwear fields of sports, mountaineering, marine, outdoor and industrial design and development. This linked with a strong bio-mechanics input, coupled with a test team of elite athletes in the mountain sport environment gives inov-8 the creative culture for next generation products.

High quality shoe. Have been using it for backpacking solely, and have been fully satisfied. Breathable, durable, quite lightweight, and super comfortable. The cleated/lugged bottom is awkward when walking on concrete or very packed earth; on most trail surfaces though this isn't noticeable and is actually positive in the traction that it provides on mud, snow, etc. Recommended shoe I would purchase again.

I was looking for a shoe that was minimal/barefoot style, but had good traction for trail running. I love these! Super light weight and the tread on the bottom adds just enough protection from rugged ground. My foot is on the narrow side and the fit was perfect. Better for the trail then the road.

Bought these shoes and the Gator socks (by Inov8). After a short trail run to test fit, I immediately put them to the test with a rocky 10 mile trail race with terrain that included: smooth packed dirt, sandy washes, hard rock, and very loose screed rock. I was very impressed with the shoes right away. Not only are they extremely light, but they seem to have a little extra room in the toe box so you’re not slamming your toes into the ends of the shoes on descents. The tread patter is kinda like the old Nike waffle board pattern, but the knobs are spaced out enough so they don’t pick up and hold rocks. A big plus when running on trails as I described. The bottom sole is a little thin (for reduced weight I guess) and you can feel the tread nubs on asphalt, but it’s not annoying. I wish the soles were a little thicker for my type of terrain as those partially exposed jutting rocks can start to take a toll on the really long trail runs. I’ve tried every version of New Balance, Nike, and Pearl Izumi’s off-road trail shoes, and this shoe is by far my favorite out of the bunch!

Inov-8's are known to have a narrow shape. I have a wide foot, but just on the low end of wide. Can generally use a narrow'ish shoe if I size up, but for racing oriented shoes this makes the toes too long for speed/agility, etc... That proved to be true for this shoe. Too bad as it had everything I wanted: aggressive lugs, light weight, cool looks. Just too narrow for me. Only other hesitation for me is the construction of the upper didn't quite wrap my foot as evenly and cozy as I would have expected. Other shoes like Salomons and Mizunos seem to be able to keep that. Even though they are heavier, I went with the Salomon FellCross. I was ultimately looking for something fairly rugged so was okay with weight compromise.

I have narrow feet and I found these to be somewhat narrow but acceptable. I can not image how someone with broad feet would feel about these shoes. Also, before I purchased I found competing reviews that said they were a half size too small or that they were just right. I found that they are indeed a half size too small and I had to send back my first pair to get the right size. All-in-all I am not sure I like these better than my waterproof Salomons even though these are lighter.
