These are my first real trail running shoes, but compared to what I was wearing before there is no comparison. These shoes are fantastic and I noticed the change in comfort in my first step. You can almost feel the tread on the shoe gripping the ground below you. They need little to no breaking in and you should be able to run your full running distance in them no problem. Be advised these shoes are excellent for hiking and running on hard packed trails at the very least. Anything like concrete or asphalt may feel like you are running in cleats, because of the design of the tread on the bottoms of the shoe. Other than that, these shoes perform great for what they are meant to do.

Got these shoes for trail runs and day hiking, they are lightweight and rugged. Love these! I have narrow feet and appreciate the fit on these, also like the fact that they come in a half size. I like the color, for hiking/trails it doesn't show the dirt as much as the lighter colors. I was so tired of my clunky hiking shoes that seemed to feel like bricks by the end of my longer hikes. Very pleased with this purchase, and will definitely own a few more pairs of Inov8 shoes.

Inov-8 is my new best shoe friend. I have worn Salomons for years, but the Inov-8s allow more freedom of movement for my feet. I have been wearing this brand for three months, and my arches are already stronger. I also wear the Inov-8 268 and the 318 gore tex models. For me, they provide a good transition from heavily cushioned and supportive trail shoes to a more natural way of moving.

Great shoe with great technical features. Very light and easy to get your foot into. Laces fit snugly all the way down the foot so you feel very secure. I have metatarsal problems, so the design of the soul to protect metatarsals in motion is great. Also, the facial band on the bottom helps those prone to plantar fasciitis, also something I deal with. Out of the box, the only thing the shoe needs is arch support. I put in a $20 basic insole with some arch support from Sports Authority, and that made the shoe feel great. The shoe itself has good cushioning and good pebble/root shock protection for trail use. The tongue is very good and doesn't get pulled into the shoe. Also, the material in the heel/achilles section is very nice and doesn't seem to create friction causing blistering. The cushioning under the heel is good and provides a lot of shock absorption. This is a great trail running shoe. I don't run in a lot of water, so I can't speak to it, but this shoe was also designed to stay dry and wick out tons of water if you run through really wet conditions. I haven't experienced it, but I wouldn't be surprised that it performed quite well in this arena also. I buy a lot of shoes to deal with the arthritic and other issues in my feet. For a shoe to perform to this level is unusual, but oh so refreshing.

Update. I wrote a review on this shoe as soon as I received it but I feel I need to update that review. Initially I loved this shoe. Although I loved the fit, look and support of this shoe after wearing it just for a month I had to return them because the stitching was coming out at the sole, then with my replacement pair it did the same thing. For the price, you would think this shoe would last more than a couple months. I ended up retiring my pair with a hole where the stitching came apart after just three months of moderate use.

Great light shoe. Excellent heel support. I had bad plantar fasciitis and their Fascia Band patent really works and supports the heel. I didn't believe in it until I have tried it. Thanks again for Zappos with extra great service.

Am actually a size 11N but ordered a size 12 because I like to wear thick Smart Wool socks. Have worn several times and each time I wish I had purchased sooner. Light and comfortable and plenty of room in the toes, lace up so width is just fine.

These are good trail running shoes. They are light weight, fit well out of the box and took them out for 10 miles with no problem the first day. They do seem to be wearing a bit faster than I am used to so I probably will need to replace at 300 miles.

With several trail runs in the books I can say that I have been very happy with the Roclite 295s. These are really my first trail running shoes so I don't have a lot to compare with, but they are quite light with excellent grip and traction (as advertised). They do seem to drain and dry quickly when they get wet. I'm used to more cushioning in my road running shoes, but I've had no issues with the minimal cushioning in these. Overall I have found them excellent. Also, Zappos has delivered my orders w/i 48 hours both times.

These shoes are great. I use them for running short distances (5K races) and CrossFit. They are very comfortable, more comfortable than my Ascis 'running' sneakers. I would prefer another color besides black (they only came in one color).

You can't beat Zappos service! Ordered yesterday at 11am, delivered at 3pm today! These were right on, right out of the box. They fit like a glove! I wear a womens 11 wide so I ordered a UK 9. Plenty of room in the toe box, nice arch support, more dressy than a standard runner and cute for a trail runner! The lacing system made the width adjustable for thicker hiking socks and my tall arch. All I can say is I can't wait to hit the trail! Perfect!

This is my 4th pair of Roclite 295, and I feel they may be the best all-round trail runner made. I run up to 40 mile weeks and 50k max distance. I have never felt the need to get them off my feet. Good shoes.

I have run in Asics for several years, but since purchasing the Roclite 295's I have switched to these almost exclusively as my road running shoe of choice. There is considerably less cushioning in the shoe, which takes some getting used to, but I have found that my stride is much more natural in these and my legs/knees hurt much less. Also, these make a great walking around town and hiking shoe. They are very comfortable and have a cool look to them as well. Those new to Inov-8's should be warned they run a little small and are narrow, but overall they are by far the most comfortable shoes I've owned. If you are looking to run trails, these don't have much ankle support - look to the Roclite 400's or some Salomon's if that is what you need - but for light trail running these are awesome.
