I purchased these strictly for moderate trail running. Maybe, because they are very light, there is not much arch support and you really can feel the rocks, tree roots, etc. The laces will not stay tied. The good news is that they have excellent grip and waterproof to keep your feet dry.

This shoes are very lightweight, 100 percent waterproof, good ventilation; +2 stars here. But very poor arch support. If you lace them tight, laces stick into your feet and block blood circulation. I keep them, but expected more. Especially for the price I paid. Inov, this is very bad job, sorry. I doubt I buy more your products at full price.

I bought these boots for my weekly rove through the woods and mountains, off piste, through steep, variable terrain. They are a great woods moccasin: lightweight, great ground feel, superb grip, waterproof. To my surprise they have been an excellent winter mountain running shoe. A nice wide toe-box and just the right amount of support...which for me is almost nothing at all with an approaching minimal sole. For those with narrow feet I would guess the toe box to be too big. I have a wide foot and they are perfect.

I have hiked/walked and snow shoed for about 50 miles in these shoes. The weather ranged from 50 to 25 degrees. This included soft trails, snow on rock, wet rock, sidewalk, packed snow, fluffy snow. I added a Surefoot arch. They were warm, dry, had good support, and did very well on rock. My back feels great. They are very light. They do ware quickly, but it is worth it to get the wet traction. Ankle support is good enough to use for snow shoes. I would recommend this to a friend.

About inov-8
All inov-8 footwear goes through extensive testing by enthusiasts and elite international athletes, to guarantee they perform like they should. Their whole design development process centers on optimizing the end user's performance. The uppers of inov-8 shoes are extremely functional with mesh in the forepart and tongues for maximum breathability. This creates a good climate that helps you run at your best. When you run through water and the shoe gets soaked, it creates a pumping action that expels the water from the shoe allowing it to dry quickly. The lace webbing is positioned allowing a secure foothold without altering the natural alignment of the metatarsals. The back of their shoes are cleanly cut which allows your Achilles tendon to experience high levels of comfort and minimum restriction- particularly when running down hill.
The inov-8 team is made up of experts with proven track records in the footwear fields of sports, mountaineering, marine, outdoor and industrial design and development. This linked with a strong bio-mechanics input, coupled with a test team of elite athletes in the mountain sport environment gives inov-8 the creative culture for next generation products.

It's a great feeling lite trail boot, but my experience was that the despite the Gore Tex, they were only waterproof for a few months. If you're debating whether or not to spend the money, don't let the GTX persuade you.

I run barefoot in the summer but wanted a shoe that could stand up to a New England winter. This seemed to be it, a low drop shoe that is attractive in design and very very light on the foot. Unfortunately the width is too narrow for my wide-ish foot. I hoped since the sizing is unisex that the width would be more generous as it would need to also potentially accommodate a man's foot, but in fact it is a rather narrow toe box. Disappointed, as this looks and feels like an awesome shoe. I can't go up another size either as the shoe seems to run long, I had already ordered up half a size from my usual, and there was plenty of room to spare at the toe.

Was really excited to get these: they look nice, are incredibly light, and had the lure of waterproofness due to the use of Gore-Tex. However, Gore-Tex did not hold up. As for fit, the Roclite fit about the same as Inov-8's F-lite 195. Noticeable difference between 2 arrows (6mm) and 1 arrow (3mm) differential. My longest foot measures about 10 3/8in. Both Roclites and F-lites in 9.5 US fit perfectly for running. Summary of Pros: Look cool. Super light. Fit properly (with extra thumb space in front for running). Excellent outer sole material (does not slip even when wet)! Cons: Weren't waterproof/resistant (see description below). Tested shoes by running water over them. Made sure not to run water into the shoe or above the Gore-Tex lining, which doesn't go all the way up to the top of the shoe. When testing the right shoe, I noticed that the right ankle area became wet. This occurred right in the middle of where the Gore-Tex lining should have been (well below the top of the stitching for the Gore-Tex layer and above the inner sole). The left shoe was fine, leading me to believe that this could be a manufacturing defect. Either way, not cool.

I was looking for a boot that was lightweight, waterproof, and superficially, not ugly. I'm replacing a pair of Merrells for my summer trek through the 220 mile JMT in Yosemite. The Merrells I bought too small, wore too many times to return, so I decided to hunt for a new pair. After trying on tons of options, I discovered Inov-8 through a lightweight backpacking message board. I was going to get running shoes, but a boot with the weight and dexterity of a running shoe? Sounds perfect. I'm reviewing based on a single day of heavy wear. I usually wear an 8.5 in hiking boots, but had to get a 9. They feel like running shoes, but give you a bit of ankle support and "sturdiness" as a boto would. Very comfortable. Haven't had a problem with the laces as one reviewer mentioned. They aren't the most cushiony shoes, but they are by no means uncomfortable at all. I may still get some insoles since I plan on walking so much, but that would be true for most shoes. Oh, and they look damn good. Black on black, very masculine, minimal logos or accents. A lot of running shoes look like futuristic billboards. I think this is a great compromise. 10 oz/pair with Gore-Tex = Awesome.
