All inov-8 footwear goes through extensive testing by enthusiasts and elite international athletes to guarantee they perform like they should. Their whole design development process centers on optimizing the end user's performance. The uppers of inov-8 shoes are extremely functional with mesh in the forepart and tongues for maximum breathability. This creates a good climate that helps you run at your best. When you run through water and the shoe gets soaked, it creates a pumping action that expels the water from the shoe allowing it to dry quickly. The lace webbing is positioned allowing a secure foothold without altering the natural alignment of the metatarsals. The back of their shoes are cleanly cut which allows your Achilles tendon to experience high levels of comfort and minimum restriction- particularly when running downhill.
The inov-8 team is made up of experts with proven track records in the footwear fields of sports, mountaineering, marine, outdoor and industrial design and development. This linked with a strong bio-mechanics input, coupled with a test team of elite athletes in the mountain sport environment gives inov-8 the creative culture for next generation products.

After developing plantar fasciitis, I tried the traditional prescription to deal with the condition -- stability shoes and orthotics. It didn't work. Then I read "Born to Run" by Christopher McDougall (excellent book, by the way) and reassessed my running style and shoes. I transitioned to a much more minimal shoe, began going barefoot more often and performing daily foot exercises. Well, it all worked to alleviate my PF and these Inov-8 shoes were a big part of that! I use these shoes when I run on roads and more minimal shoes when I trail run. I love that these shoes are actually shaped like a human foot with a rounded, not pointed, toe-box. These shoes are also wide enough for a foot that has "gone natural"! Please understand if you buy these shoes that they are minimalist shoes; this means they are designed to have no arch support and little padding. If you are transitioning to minimalist running, this is an excellent shoe to try! If your feet and lower legs are not strong, you will be a little sore as you build strength since these shoes allow the foot to move naturally -- something traditional running shoes don't do. They are comfortable, lightweight, breathable and a great minimal road running shoe. The sole is made of a softer material similar to the EVA midsole of other shoes and does wear faster than a traditional running shoe sole. I wish they came in some color besides yellow though! When my current pair wears out, I will definitely look to Inov-8 for a replacement. I also hike in Inov-8 Roclite 288s and X-Talon 240s and I have a pair of F-Lite 195s for casual wear; needless to say, I'm an Inov-8 fan!
I'd also recommend: Vibram Fivefingers, Merrell Barefoot, New Balance Minimus

In short, these are the best running shoes I've ever worn. They are a perfect compromise between a very minimal shoe like the VFF and a shoe with more structure like the Nike Lunaracer (both of which I've also spent considerable time running in). About me and how I use them: I'm 5'10", 140 lbs, I run about 40 miles a week, am currently training for an 8k and have a natural affinity for minimalist running shoes and bright colors. I love the VFF, but when I'm doing speed work, I feel like I need just a tiny bit of cushioning to really fly. The Lunaracer is a good shoe, but a little too much "help" despite its light weight - plus I get crazy blisters running in them. I wear the Road-X 155 for all my runs, from fast 5k's to long runs around 15 miles. I am not usually evangelical about shoes but I can't stop telling people how great these are!

These are so light! These shoes are sick! I just got them for Christmas and have worn them a couple of times. The are probably better for higher arches, mine are low but they still work. They are very low profile, with no noticeable drop from heel to toe. They are definitely minimalist trainer/performance shoes and not terrain shoes. The bottom seems so thin that you would definitely create some issues stepping on the wrong surfaces. I will use these for crossfitting when it is indoors. The color is sweet, and the size ran pretty true to Nike/Asics sizes for me at 10½.

I originally wanted the Inov-8 220's but they weren't available in my size, so I went with this style and I'm glad I did. I love these shoes. I use them for cross-fit and Olympic lifting. They're an amazing product and perfect for the sport!

After putting 350 miles and a hole in a pair of F-Lite 195s, I was eager to try out inov8's road shoe line. I cant say I'm crazy about the color scheme, but I do love the fit and feel of this shoe. It is incredibly light but the thin sole is fairly soft so it dampens a bit of your foot strike. There is no sole/midsole construction. the midsole just has a texture imprinted onto the bottom. I would only expect to get 400 miles or less from these shoes, but so far they feel amazing on my feet.
