Hurley Flight Plan Wheeled Travel Backpack SKU #7337915(View on Zappos.com Classic)

I bought this backpack/suitcase twinset so that I could carry my books and small items back and forth between my law school and my apartment. It looked super cute, well, more like super cool and tough girl chic, when I first got it, and I had high hopes. My eyes had deceived me. The backpack started wearing and finally fell apart in less than three weeks. The right shoulder strap tore away from the backpack completely and the front pocket exhibited a tear-hole that began small (negligible, I thought, and I resolved to simply deal with it because I didn't want to go through the hassle of making a return) and ended up big enough to render the zipper useless and all its contents glaringly public. So I called Zappos, wary and a bit timid because I had never done this customer-service-return thing before, and Zappos was amazing. Wow. They were amazing. I exchanged my defunct Hurley item for a beautiful new Jansport and, voila, I am now a very happy, very loyal Zappos customer. Your customer service quality control / customer satisfaction procedures have won me over, Zappos, and you ain't so bad yourself. Two thumbs up for Zappos. Two thumbs up for Hurley as a snowboard/skateboard/sports brand. But no thumbs for this Hurley backpack. It's strong enough to hold a sock, and the story ends there.

Flight Plan Wheeled Travel Backpack & Removable Backpack - This is a nice set of two travel items from Hurley. The main item, the wheeled travel backpack is a pretty decent size. Maybe some minor adjustments that could be made would be to make it a little bit wider in depth, by just a few inches, and also although the outside material seems strong, the inside linings could be made tougher/thicker, and the retractable handle could be made more sturdier. But as Hurley is not a company that specifically specializes in travel items/luggage, I wasn't expecting something "top of the line". Some nice features of this would be the padded front and side carry handles, the zippers seem to work great and there are backpack straps that come out of this zippered compartment in the back that would come in handy. The main reason why I decided to purchase this was because this comes with a removable backpack - so essentially you're getting two items here. The only two things that could be made better on the backpack would be to make the interior lining material more stronger/thicker and also the backpack straps more ergonomic and padded a little better, as they sometimes seem to easily slide off your shoulders. Otherwise, the size of the removable backpack (approx. 19"L x 12"W X 6"D) is nice - it can hold a lot of things, including a padded compartment for your laptop. Although this is featured only in the Men's Hurley Bags section, I see nothing weird with girls using these bags. Ultimately, the style that Hurley brings is awesome, and I'd recommend this item to anyone looking to purchase a wheeled travel bag + removable backpack.
