I bought this bag for a trip to Hawaii, knowing I'd be doing a lot of walking and needing a more convenient way of carrying everything. I thought it would be a good rucksack-type alternative to the hipster fashion statements like Herschel and Fjallraven Kanken bags, and when I got it, it really fit that bill. It was stiff at first, but with a few days of use, it molded to my back and shoulders. One thing I didn't expect that I realized once I got the bag: the opening is significantly smaller than the base of the bag. You have to turn larger objects sideways and then right them once they're through the opening. It can, however, carry a pretty extreme amount of stuff (example 1: a DSLR camera bag with extra lens, two water bottles, thick book, a stuffed first aid kit, ginormous wallet, poncho; example 2: cleats, a softball glove, ball, spare pants, flip-flops, water bottle, stuffed first aid kit, knee brace, shin guards; example 3: 6 bricks, 3 citronella candles, water bottle), and can also be condensed down into a smaller bag if you're not carrying a lot. It's magic. So, while I was in Hawaii, a week after I bought the bag, I was in a moped accident with it on my back. It protected my DSLR inside and came out without a scratch. I loved it so much that I began using it daily once I got back to New York, for work and softball practices and just about every day use. Fast forward three months, and the back panel began separating from the body of the bag in a pretty big way. I didn't know if it was my abuse of the bag, or craftsmanship, but it survived a moped crash, so I gave it the benefit of the doubt. Zappos was kind enough to replace the busted bag with a new one, considering it had only been three months since I bought the thing. Now, six weeks after THAT bag arrived, one of the flaps for the side pockets has also begun to separate from the body of the bag. In both instances, it was a matter of stitching coming loose, and in places that I would never have expected it to separate, because my use of the bag didn't justify it happening. Now, the flap separation isn't a huge deal; the bag is still usable, and will be even if that flap falls off completely. But the back panel was a huge problem, and exposed the insulation that would normally protect the bag's contents from water damage if the bag got wet. And, in normal circumstances, this bag is great at keeping contents dry, even in a downpour. So, while I otherwise endorse this bag in every other way, buyer beware, it's prone to stitching separation with heavy use.

My son is an artist and when looking for a bag to carry his laptop he was very frustrated because every bag in all the stores was plain and looked the same! He saw this one and had to have it. It has secure tabs in the front and pad inside for laptop protection. He gets many many compliments on it! We are now looking to buy the other bags which match.
