Great little day pack for when looking for something less technical. Unobtrusive, clean design with subtle detail highlights. My go to bag when roaming city streets and jumping in and out of taxis. It can handle a lot but for all day trail excursions, this one stays home.

This bag is just a little different from the Herschel Settlement, but I like that. All my friends have the Settlement and I wanted something not too different so I got this one. I've gotten many compliments on it, and I love the way it looks with my uniform. All in all, this is a wonderful bag.

Very comfortable straps. The bag doesn't get so wide that it is obnoxious to walk around and looks bad, but it can hold a lot of stuff. I really like the interior pocket to hold books, newspapers, etc. The inside is candy cane striped. Also the fold in the outside has desert store style camo - be forewarned - it is not all black! I've only had mine for a couple months so we'll see how it stands up quality-wise. Nothing broken yet!

I got the gray Herschel Parker backpack for lugging around all my books and such for business school. I get more compliments on this bag because of the classic, sophisticated design. The two things that I wish this bag had: 1. a side pocket for a water bottle (although I affix mine with a carabiner to the top) 2. Additional pockets inside for holding pens, pencils and whatnot (I ended up getting a little pencil case which works just fine). All in all, this a great bag for the price. I really love mine and am even considering getting a second one in a different color...

This bag is sturdily constructed, roomy, and has a modestly off-beat look that will attract positive attention. The only negative so far is that it has a subtle chemical smell I can't get to go away, despite copious airing-outs (the label says not to machine wash it).
I'd also recommend: Jansport
