I love this pack. It has easy to access pockets and room for everything you would take on a day hike. The rain cover is a nice plus. And, best of all, the frame distributes weight so that my back and shoulders don't get tired. Worth the extra money for a quality product.

Really nice bag with lots of space. I was looking for an all-in-one that I could use for my work peripherals and gym clothes/shoes. The huge capacity is definitely a plus (and the fact that it can fold up into a small size is cool). The quality of the materials and craftsmanship are all very high and I definitely felt like I was getting a bag worth what I paid. The problem is in the strap(s). They can be separated and used as backpack straps, or kept together as a single duffel-style shoulder strap. But -- they're not very comfortable in either position. The backpack straps are tightened in an upwards direction instead of pulling down on the tighteners. And, as a shoulder strap, the dual-strap design makes it uncomfortable to carry as a single strap (also alllllways slid off my shoulder while walking). There are hooks for a single-duffel bag strap -- but there wasn't one included with the bag. Boooo. Great quality, look, and capacity, just not a very comfortable or useful bag.

In short, this is the best duffel bag I have ever had. I am a fan of duffel bag and have been searching for a duffel that a. can hold a lot of stuff, b. carry on size so that no need for luggage wait, c. decent design and quality, d. comfortable to carry on shoulder. This Gregory Alpaca 40L is a perfect choice after I have done extensive research and even tried/returned several other models. This item is a carry on size, while it is spacious to hold for a 1 week trip's luggage easily if you pack well. Another highlight is that its shoulder paddles are awesome and really comfortable, feels great to carry on either one shoulder or both. Let alone its quality and design, it is very low profile and solid which totally fits my need. This is a perfect duffel bag for me and I have been using it all the time even for a weekend get-away. If you are deciding between 40L and 60L models, the only difference should be the dimension and it is totally up to you if you want to stick to carry on or want to get a larger one.

I bought this backpack to replace cheap one that ripped into my shoulders and made a short backpacking trip an ordeal of pain. I loaded the Z75 with 40 pounds of gear and did some serious bushwhacking to explore canyons and ridges in southern Nevada. The backpack properly distributed weight to hips so I stayed balanced. The shoulder padding was comfortable. The design kept my back sweat free. I did experience some rubbing on the lower part of the back, which was the result of the design to keep the pack of away from the center of the back for cooling purposes. There is no separate sleeping bag compartment - which is fine by me. There is also no built-in rain fly - again not an issue for desert rats. A great feature was the pocket for my hyrdration unit, although it was a hassle to refill the camelbak and I had to empty much of the pack to add water. Overall, I think this is a great backpack. I am still working out the bugs but am looking forward to some longer desert treks this winter and spring.

Perfect, Spent two week in Australia and had no check in luggage by using this bag and it can carry a lot. On way back we checked (bought too much stuffs. Bag did get rough treatment at LAX and showed some wear but held up. More storage room than needed. Zappos service was as usual and outstanding. I tried one other bag from Zappos and it was not suitable. Return was a piece of cake.

I want to like this bag, but the top lid is very stiff. This could be a good thing, but I found it very hard to even unzip the bag due to the lid's flap. Size-wise it's great! Can fit a full weekend's or a minimalist's week depending on how you pack. I also found the compression straps to somewhat annoying. Bottom line: This bag is designed for long, secure travel and not meant to be opened/closed frequently.

AWESOME! Most comfortable pack of it's size EVER! Well built and stylish. It has all the newest "gizmo" type pockets and stuff too.

Very much a minimalist/niche backpack. Be aware that there is no framesheet - it can fold over on itself, even be rolled up. If you really stuff it the back will curve some. Waist belt pockets are small and barely hold a Clif bar, so don't expect them to hold a camera. With that said, the bag would otherwise be great for dayhikes or stowing in luggage for a daypack while traveling. Exterior pockets would be super convenient for stashing things. Side pockets are large and have no problem fitting Nalgenes. Waistbelt could be looped through the iceaxe loop to keep out of your way when not needed. Alas I decided to return it to get something with a frame and larger hipbelt pockets (i.e. Osprey Stratos 24). I'll still give it 5 stars because it would be excellent for it's likely intended uses - fastpacking without a lot of stopping to smell the flowers and summitting (I assume).

I needed this bag because I could't take a rollaboard on my trip, and it turned out to be great. It doesn't have much in the way of bells and whistles (limited interior pockets, etc), but it is sturdy and seems well-made. Plus, because of the color, even though the airline forgot to put a tag on it, it was still easy for them to find and get back to me. The strap system; so you can put it on a shoulder or on your back, is great.

This is the perfect volume to bring back what you want from your trip. There is a metallic harness on each side to reinforce the bag and the structure, and it is nice to protect your valuables, like a bottle or something fragile. It is easy to carry and use on rollers, this bag replace my old one which was a duffle of north face 5L less than this one. With 80L it is the perfect bag for me to carry all that I need.

I purchased a different bag from Zappos with similar features, but it did not have a carrying strap that allowed for over the shoulder/crossbody, so I returned it. This one has all the features/necessary straps. The options and fact that they are able to be removed/changed is incredibly helpful. The zipper is tough to pull open and closed, but seems very durable. The exterior is sturdy, interior is roomy, and the internal packing straps also come very in handy. My only suggestions would be to make a zipper that 'glides' more smoothly for easier access and pack-up, and to have a few interior pockets for smaller items/easy access since the inside is so cavernous. I only gave 3 stars for style because there really were not a whole lot of options available. Functionality and comfort get a 5. This bag is great for long weekend trips that require a lot of clothing and shoe options and also has outdoor camping durability. Win/win.

Every stitch, every strap, every crevice and corner goes beyond its rugged function. It is the designer suit of bags. The only minor quibble is that when worn as a backpack, there is no chest or hip strap.

Freakin' awesome bag. I like the tie down straps on the inside and it's very roomy. The shoulder straps work very well. I used this on a short car camping trip and it was easy to carry it backpack style and put in my vestibule.

This is a really nice bag. It is expensive, but worth it. Great roll around feel, very stable. Lots of volume and I like the way they have designed the frame. This is probably one of the toughest soft roller bags around.

A fantastic backpack! I use it for snowshoeing day trips and foul weather hiking. It holds all my gear for the various weather conditions we can have in the Cascades and Olympic Mountains. I love the kangaroo pouch on the front of the bag for when I want to stuff wet clothing away from the dry things in the pack or quickly get rid of a layer and keep going. This pack is ultra comfortable -- very balanced and the air flow on my back is excellent. Love the zipper pockets on the very comfortable hip belt. Women: if you want a comfortable pack, get a pack like this that is designed for a woman's body. I will never again use a men's or unisex backpack for my outdoor adventures. The comfort is outstanding!

A very nice pack. Looks great. It had the best pocket arrangement of any I looked at. Seems well made. Only negative is stuff is somewhat hard to find at bottom of main compartment.

Love this duffel. it looks and feels quite sturdy. The 45 L size is perfect for a week of light pack of clothes or for the gym. In fact if you do not pull the upper edges down with the straps, it can look like a nice tote style oversized bag. Somewhat like this tennis bag (http://www.zappos.com/adidas-by-stella-mccartney-tennis-bag-gravel-grey). And I really like that, if heavy, I can carry it around as a backpack too. Love the versatility.

This is a great sized pack for around town, carry-on luggage, or day hikes. I can easily fit my full 3 L hydration bladder plus a rain jacket, snacks, & have some room to spare. The zipper opening is smaller than the full width of the pack at the bottom. It can make putting large items in the pack challenging, but this is a small day pack, not a backpacking pack. The shoulder straps and hip belt really move with your body - it doesn't shift or feel awkward. I have the Black Orchid - and it's prettier in real life, the 'black' is more of a dark grey.

This seems to be a great product, but was much smaller than I expected. I want a light backpack that I can bike with around school, but I wish at least my 13 inch laptop with a thin case would fit in this backpack.

I purchased this for my sister, and here's what she had to say: "As a well-endowed female, it is nice to finally have a backpack that accommodates all of me. I also wanted a backpack with water-holders that would fit 32-oz Nalgene bottles, and most day-hike packs are a little narrow. The rain-fly is a neat feature, and I hope I get to use it in a few months in the Smokeys."

Great backpack. Seems like it will hold up well. I'm able to hold a tripod in the spot where the pad usually rolls up into, and I can keep my thermarest z-lite strapped vertically with the top wrap around buckle. Compared to my friend's Baltoro from the year before this one holds more and is made of stronger materials. Suspension seems to be similar.
