Like many riders of the 1980's, Jim Gentes was inspired by the idea of enhancing cycling performance. Unlike others who were on the quest to improve the bike and its components, he stopped to consider something even more important - the rider. He believed that by focusing on details like aerodynamics, weight, ventilation, comfort and style, riders could improve their performance and overall experience. His knowledge and imagination promoted helmet innovations such as internal reinforcements, aerodynamic analysis, channeled ventilation, adjustable visors and integrated fit systems.

This helmet seemed so promising. It offers great bang for the buck. Super light. The finish is a nice matte instead of the more common glossy finish on other helmets that I really like. The Roc Loc 5 adjusts up and down, a feature usually only found in higher end helmets and perfect if you have a longer head like me. The only real problem is the straps. The straps are stiff and scratchy and don't lie flat against your head. The material seems like a coarser grade nylon than is usually used in every other helmet I have seen or owned. The problem is that you have to have that touching your face and neck for extended periods of time and with this coarse grade, stiff material it's going to chaff and be very uncomfortable. Sadly this blew it for me and I had to return it.
I've always worn the same helmet that I ride for mountain biking or road riding, until this helmet came along. Now i have a helmet that doesn't feel so racy, and that is easy to wear over a beanie or cap. It's a great helmet, and i get a lot of compliments on it too!
Great helmet. Got it for my daughter who just turned 2. It is easy to adjust for a correct fit. There's definitely lots of room to grow into, and the design/colors won't outgrow her either. And of course, Zappos had it at my door within 2 days.
