Giesswein Reviews
Great arch support! The sole is more solid than a regular slipper, the wool is so soft. I have wide front of feet and narrow ankle - these fit great and seem as if they would fit many foot shapes well.
I have had these slippers for two years now. I absolutely love them! They show no signs of wear and I wear them daily. They provide great support and what I love most is that I can wear them to take out the trash and get the newspaper without worrying about ruining them.
I worn these for three months, indoors only. The sole has nearly entirely pulled away from the top of the shoe, and they have stretched so that they can now only be worn with my thickest socks. I am disappointed, as I had some old Geisswein cork-bottomed slippers and loved them. These I continue to wear because they were expensive and I keep wishing they were great.
I've been looking for slippers with arch support for my flat footed husband forever and he loves these slippers and we've tried a lot of different slippers and none have come close to these.
I love these slippers. I did have to order the next size up for comfort. They have a great arch support. Better than most shoes. My only complaint is that the adjuster to tighten around the ankle to keep them on, needs to be tighten up more often than I like. I may have to change that to a tied lace instead.
I have a tough time finding slippers I like. I like these because they don't slip off. I'm able to get in and out of them pretty fast too. I like quality and good looks. They have that. They are also comfortable.
I am a size 8 men's and as others have noted these slippers runs small. I ignored the advice and ordered a size 41 European and when they arrived they were about 1 size too small. I returned the 41 and ordered a 42. Although they feel roughly half a size large I can live with that. They are slippers after all, and comfortable ones at that.
I bought these slippers because I was unable to find the Orthaheal slippers that I like any more. These slippers have worked out very nicely. The removable insert has a nice arch support that is made out of a firm jelled rubber and has a nice feel (you could replace with your own support if you wanted.) The wool is soft but very warm. Side note: I am a pretty solid size 9 and have been for years. When I ordered these slippers I ordered a size 9 and my toes are at the very tips of these slippers. I can ware but I think I would have been happier with and size larger.
Would be a great shoe if size was correct. Ordered size 14 and it felt very uncomfortable at the toes. I have a foot size of 12, this shoe feels 3 full sizes smaller. Very unfortunate!
These are great slippers. They do run small - order one size larger than what you normally wear. The arch support is excellent and my feet don't sweat in them like other slippers.
I'm thrilled with my Giesswein made-in-Austria Hausschuhe (house slippers). They are on different plane from vendors like L.L. Bean or Cabela's. Giesswein's higher price is more than justified by the comfort, ergonomics, materials, durability and appearance of this superior Hausschuh.
Adorable, comfy with nice insole, but still too big even though I ordered down a size to 37 based on other reviews. I have wide and "unhappy feet", but I will try this brand again in a different style.
These slippers are very comfy, soft, and not too warm. The purple color is cute too! I had to order a size larger than usual.
Very comfortable, light weight, feel good on bare feet or socks. Very happy with the purchase.
These are the classic German house shoes, as my friend who lived in Germany explained. They provide more support than many regular slippers. They offer great arch support, have a sturdy but lightweight sole, and breathable wool. These are the finest slippers that I have found in all the land!
Makes my foot look big, and actually runs big, but obviously very comfortable with great arch support. I have to exchange down a size, but I think my husband wants a pair too now.
I am in search of a slipper that has arch support, a soft bottom and a plush material. I can't find all 3 in one. This I bought for it's solid arch support but find I don't like how hard the sole is and don't like the wedge heel. Some people may love them, they are well made and a nice material. But couldn't there be a layer of memory foam over the arch support?
Very warm and comfy. Really nice all around the house shoe. The warmth of slippers with the functionality of shoes. Soles are perfect to run out to the mailbox and work around the kitchen, They run true to the European sizes. I would buy another pair from this company.
This was my first Zappos purchase (after much hype from friends) and I know it wont be my last! This slipper is so great! I have never owned a wool slipper before so I wasn't sure what to expect in fit, comfort, or warmth. Comfort: Yes! The arch support is very comfortable for me. I have plantar fasciitis, so I must have arch support all the time or my feet hurt! These are great for that. Fit: They felt a little small/stiff the first day but now (5 days later) the fit is good. I normally wear an 11, but purchased the 11.5 which fits fine. Wamth: My feet have been warm every time I wear them without getting sweaty. The sheepskin outside/ shearling inside slippers I owned last time were cozy but there was no arch support and after awhile my feet would sweat. Ick! Also, I can take the dogs out in these w/out having to change into shoes because of the rubber bottom. I let a friend try them out while she was visiting this weekend and every time I saw them across the room, I thought, I like those slippers! Then was filled with joy and gladness remembering that they were mine! And the name is super fun to say! (Gare-loose by Geese-Vine!) The videos that tell you all the highlights of the item are stupendous! I love that. Thanks, Zappos, for offering a great slip at a good price!
In a world where everything is Amazing!...these are simply excellent in every respect. A perfect combination of warm slipper that breathes, coupled with a firm and supportive non-marking, rubber outsole for in-outside versatility. I would follow the advice to order a size larger on this batch. I did, and I am glad I did. Extremely happy-feet with these. Quite medieval, actually. Just ordered a pair for my partner.
