Deerskin lining- Gentle Souls´ shoes uses supple and breathable deerskin-lined insoles providing softness and comfort while conforming to the shape of your foot. It is durable and will not stretch or crack when wet. Deerskin is normally found on gloves, jackets or shoe uppers. The deerskin-lined insole is unique to Gentle Souls shoes and sandals!
Flaxseed Memory Pillows- Flaxseed pillows are embedded in the footbed of Gentle Souls shoes to mold to the shape of your foot and provide cushioned support. The flaxseed ¨memory pillows¨ are somewhat similar to beanbags as they redistribute and adjust to the shape of your foot with every step.
Padding- Under the deerskin lining there is a memory foam developed by NASA; Poron®. This foam does not break down and maintains its shape over time.
Granulated Cork- This layer located under the Poron® helps with shock absorption when walking on hard surfaces.
Rubberized Outsole- Sometimes fused with leather, rubberized outsoles are flexible and great for traction on hard surfaces.

Once you have buckled the strap, the last part of the strap is too wide to fit into that metal loop that keeps the end of the strap from dangling out. I tried with the shoe both on and off my foot, and I could not pull it through. Otherwise, I really liked it. This shoe is a great combination of comfortable materials (super-soft leather and comfortable padded footbed), plus a 70's-esque style that is unique and hip. So it is frustrating to have to send them back.

First things first: These are lovely sandals - very architectural and sophisticated. They pair well for casual and formal summer outfits. I actually created outfits around these little beauties. But alas, the footbed peeled up around the edges after very few wearings. The first pair I got needed to be replaced after just one wearing. Then, I saw the same footbed defect in the replacement pair after wearing them less than 6 times (and not hiking, mind you, everyday wear). So, sadly, they are going back for good. Thank you Zappos for easing the pain of my short affair with these sandals. If the footbed were not destined to peel up on the side, exposing the inners of these sandals, I'd certainly be wearing you for years to come.

These shoes are incredible! They are the most comfortable shoes that I have ever put on my feet - including slippers. I have never spent this much money on a pair of shoes before and I was a little apprehensive but they were worth every penny. They look great with jeans or dresses. I can wear them to the office or out on a date!

Love this shoe. It's very comfortable and I can wear it all day. The toe strap is a bit tight on my left shoe. I have shoe stretchers and that helped some but it is still a bit tight. I think it will loosen up and because it's just one I think just a quality control problem. If not for that they would get a 5 star and hopefully it was just a fluke.
I'd also recommend: Born, Naot, Helle Comfort

Expensive, but you get what you pay for: a quality-made shoe, very unique style, and a moderate heel that can be worn all day with jeans or casual dresses. Glad I tried it. I also liked the shape of the toe-box (kind of squared) as opposed to the traditional rounded.

These shoes are worth the money and very well made -- and they are very comfortable to wear! Requires very little "break in" time. I only wish they made these in other colors. Black is so harsh for the springtime for me. Please make a natural leather color and a mango would be nice, too! It should also be noted the toe box is extremely square-shaped. Something I am not used to, and I feel makes them more mature looking.
