The boots are great. Youthful enough for my daughter, sophisticated enough for me. They look great with tights and a long sweater or dress, as well as with skinny jeans. I think they are better looking in person than the photo online. The best news is they are comfortable too! Order a half size down.

Ordered a size too big, called to exchange at 730 pm last night, dropped them off to be shipped back at 3 in the afternoon today. Returned home and the new pair was already on my porch. Zappos is amazing! The boots are obviously awesome, too.

Hello ladies, I would love to stress the fact that these boots are so far the best boots I've ever owned. They are definitely true to size and look great with jeans. People stop me all the time to ask where I purchased them from. I will definitely recommend these boots to any ladies looking for comfort and style. A day shopping in the city, a movie night or just day to day wear. I live in New York, so I walk a lot and I'm a bit short; therefore, I need a little height on a day to day basis. I where them so much my boss asked me "are you going to wear those every day?" Ahh, yeah! He wouldn't understand (wink). In my eyes they go with everything, although I can't wear them with dresses or shorts and those were my intentions when purchasing them. That is the only negative part; they don't stay up above my knee and when I fold them down they roll down. I can only wear them with bootleg jeans and not skinny jeans as they will also droop and personally I don't like that look. I will invest in a pair of cowboy boots (of course Frye) to enjoy that look. Well, ladies, you will not regret these fabulous boots as I haven't!

These are everything I wanted. The only downside was they were a little narrow. It's easy to wear them out. The way they look makes up for it.

When I first saw these boots, I was thrilled! Not only were they the perfect boot to go with a particular handbag I had, but they were Frye boots as well. I had purchased a pair of Frye boots years ago, and was impressed with the quality. When I read the ad that described these boots, I was confident that the Frye company was keeping to its tradition of crafted quality leather. I mention all of this to attempt to convey my deep disappointment once I received and inspected these boots. Not only are they made in China now (forget the concept of crafting), but they are made out of cheap, thin leather that I'm sure won't last long. Besides this, mine arrived with scuff marks from another vendor! Where is the quality?

I saw these boots on Zappos and was immediately smitten by the style, but taken aback by the price. Knowing however, that Frye is a quality brand, I found these boots at a local department store and tried them on to see if they were really "all that." Well, they are. I bought these boots from Zappos because I didn't want to pay CA sales tax, making these boots even more expensive (and I already felt guilty for paying so much for them). I ordered the boots on a Tuesday and they were at my front door on Wednesday. Wow! I wear a 9.5, but tried on both a 9 and 9.5. The size 9 was just a bit tight, but I know the leather will stretch with time and repeated wear. While the 9.5 fit well, they are just a bit loose in the heel. But I had to settle for the 9.5 because the 9 wasn't available in the color I wanted. I'm not sorry, though, because the boots are comfortable and I think a thicker pair of socks will do the trick. So, carefully consider which size to order. If you are hesitating or debating about getting this boot, stop! This boot by far is the best boot I have ever purchased and I believe in quality boots. Yes, I stalled because of the price, but quality craftsmanship is worth the price.

These boots are even more beautiful in real life than in the pictures online! I ordered them in Curry and dark brown and even though they're the same style, the leather on the upper of these is much softer and "broken in" than the curry color, which is more stiff. My best friend ordered 2 pairs in curry from 2 different (non-Zappos) websites and found the same to be true for her. But these dark brown ones are super comfortable from even the first wear! And even as the sole breaks in, the top of the foot retains its slightly polished look, which I like because the leather, while stretching slightly to accommodate the shape of my foot, hasn't changed color or gotten that old look.

The Melissa Button Boot are my first pair of Frye boots and they are quite an introduction to the brand. There's so much the love! I love the button detail, the quality leather, and the craftsmanship. They look great with jeans and skirts. My husband even loves them. I'm 5'9" with smallish calves. The boot circumference fit me quite well. I am also between a size 9.5 and 10, so I sized down for this pair based on other reviews and the 9.5 fit perfectly. I'm sure that this pair not be my last pair of Frye boots. Zappos rocks!

Let me start out by saying that I love these boots! I did, however, have a tough time with sizing. I wear a 7.5 or an 8 and after reading all of the reviews I purchased the 7.5. Needless to say, I couldn't get my foot into these boots! I have a pretty high arch and scraped the top of my foot trying to get them on! I returned them and got an 8 which was also tough to get on, but they feel great once they're on! I was afraid to pull hard on the tabs to get them on but so far they've withstood all of my tugging. The leather is really soft (they scuff easily) and they have very little tread on the bottom and are slippery at first. The shaft of the boot fits pretty close to my calf (average size I'd say) so skinny jeans need to be really skinny, but they also look great with tights or under wider jeans. Love them!

These boots are super comfy right out of the box! I was debating whether it was 1/2 a size too big, but then realized that it was probably more comfy that way. The front of the shoe is fairly narrow, so if the back fit too "perfect", it'd probably rub on the toes. It's also nice to have the option to wear it with thicker/warmer socks. These look amazing with skinny jeans (I don't like the cuffed look so I'll just keep them straight up). I'm very happy with my purchase. Thanks Zappos!

I spent a lot of time looking at pics of these and the Veronica slouches. I went with these because I am 5'2" and the heel height is awesome. Also, they are less expensive. No idea why. I am also overweight and was worried that my calves would be too big for them, but they were totally fine. (Really not much room left over for pants thicker than leggings, though.) I am between a 7 1/2 and 8 and ordered an eight. They are perfect. And the comfort is unbelievable. I have been wearing them without socks and they have been comfortable since the first day. I used to be an Ugg wearer and these are my new faves. They have more support and a cushiony foot bed. I have had them on for hours and my feet have not gotten even a tiny bit sore. I love Zappos! Their shipping policy totally fits with my "I need to have them now" mentality! Free shipping, free returns. And their customer service remains the best on the net. I know this sounds like I work for them, but I swear I don't! I used to think that myself when I read all the positive reviews, but I have used them about 6 times now and they have been great each time.

I love these Frye boots! This is my fourth pair of Frye\'s, I typically take a half size down from normal (normally I wear a 9 but all my other Frye\'s are 8.5) but based on other reviewers I ordered a 9 and they are perfect! I can wear thicker socks with them and they feel quite true to size. I did not experience any problems getting the boot on as did previous reviewers and have plenty of room to tuck in jeans and wear a pair of thick socks on top. The leather is very stiff at first but the more I wear them the softer and more comfortable it becomes. The soles and tread are perfect for icy, cold weather. These are boots that I expect to be wearing for many, many winters! They are not too \'bulky\' or masculine and look great dressed up or down.

I love these boots so much. I am obsessed with them. They are of extremely high quality, and they look great. I read some of the other reviews before I bought these, but now as the owner of them I can say that they are perfect! Yes, there is a little bit of room in the calf, but the perfect amount. You can wear them with skinny jeans, regular jeans, or tights, and they are great with warm socks in them! Of course, these are not winter snow boots, but they are lovely! They have the perfect amount of heel and the leather is beautiful. They are a splurge, but these boots will last forever and I will wear them all the time!

Meant to be worn only cuffed. I work for Frye. Yes, lucky me. I just wanted to let everyone know these are not meant to be uncuffed because it will wrinkle the leather. To each their own though. Enjoy!

I won second place in a painting contest and spent the money on these Frye boots I have been fantasizing about for three years. I had a pair in the 70's which I wore out going to art school. When they were delivered the next day I couldn't believe it. My boots are so beautiful and fit like a dream. I am a 6 foot tall woman with slightly wide feet and so the mens sizing fit me perfectly. Zappos has every imaginable shoe and the service was remarkable.

These boots run true to size & don't require any breaking-in time. They are a little bit "slouchier" than I'd anticipated. I don't have wide calves, so they tend to fall down a little, unless I wear them under jeans. The sole & heel are well-made, but I think that the leather could be a little thicker, for the price.

Worth the price in great comfort, style and beautiful Orange color, plus great arch support. You just point your toes in the direction you want to go, and this shoe will float you there. I received them today. Now, I can't wait till Spring to wear them with all my favorite Orange colored clothes. This color is rich.

These are very comfortable boots. They take a little breaking in, but I have worn them for a full day of walking and Xmas shopping with no complaints. I have a fairly slender foot and not a high instep and do have to squeeze a little to get my foot in. I ended up with a half-size smaller than I usually take and wear a medium-weight sock as well. They are not too warm for San Diego winter!

So first off, let me say that from a style & comfort standpoint, I love this boot. It looks great, it wears great. The arch support isn't the best, but for a boot, I don't expect something to wear like a sneaker. That said, the quality of construction is very lacking. I've had my pair for less than two months, and only wear them a couple/three times a week, most of which time is spent sitting at my desk. I found today that the seam between the heel cup and the front of the boot is pulling apart, to the point where you can see the backing through a gap of roughly an eighth of an inch. These are Fryes; I expect far better construction from Frye than something to pull apart after a couple of months of light wear. Now, complaint with the boot itself aside, Zappos is making it all good. They're taking the boots back (even though they've been worn) and giving me full credit toward a new pair. I'm going for more Fryes, but they will not be the Jayden Outside Zip.

About Frye

Frye The Frye Company was founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a shoemaker from England. Frye is the oldest continuously operating shoe company in the United States. Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers for both sides of America’s Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-America war, and for Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. Many New England families during the mid and late 1800’s wore Frye boots as they pioneered across the country to the West.

Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.

In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.

The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.
