I love these boots! I ordered them a half size larger than my usual size and they fit great with thick tights and socks. They are super comfortable!

Alright. I was so so so excited for these! Though I expected way too much because of the price. It fits pretty true to size. Though, I have very high arches and these were the first pull on boots I didn't have to get stretched prior to me being able to pull them on. So maybe to people with flat feet or normal arches these might be a bit too loose in that area. Also the heel slips a bit too much. It's not really a size issue, the heel is shaped too flat and wide; most boots heels are cupped a little to accommodate the heel. The boots fit perfectly, but the heel still slips! Annoying and painful. Maybe if I wear some socks it will tighten it up back there. The insole is two parts. When I pull my foot out one of the halves peel back. The glue seems to not be holding well. I expected something like this to be taken care of in a boot at this price. The black is not the black in the photo, but rather faded. I hope putting leather conditioner on it will darken that up. To those with skinny legs, the opening is rather wide. I always thought my calves were rather muscular, but they were still swimming in these boots!

Beautiful boots. Fit true to size. (I ordered a 7.5 and 8, just to see.) As other reviewers have noted, they are little large in the heel, but I find boot socks take care of any sock slippage. After a month, the leather is softening up and taking on a lovely patina.

Another great Frye boot and another speedy Zappos delivery! Cognac color is a beautiful shade of warm tan that goes with everything from jeans to dresses. Fit is true to size; a bit tight at first, but after 5-6 wearings fits like a glove.

I definitely do not have skinny calves and was worried these boots would be too tight, but the fit is just right. I actually had to tighten the shaft buckle a little bit. I ordered these in black and the pair I received are more gray than I thought they would be, and as one reviewer mentioned, they\'re more two-toned than the photos suggest. But I don\'t mind since these boots are more casual than dressy and it gives them a more weathered look. I do find that the heel slips and that can be annoying since my socks get pulled down, but after an hour or so of walking in them they seem to mold to my feet and don\'t slip as much. I might get some heel inserts to fix this though.

Additional Brand Information

The Frye Company was founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a shoemaker from England. Frye is the oldest continuously operating shoe company in the United States. Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers for both sides of America’s Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-America war, and for Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. Many New England families during the mid and late 1800’s wore Frye boots as they pioneered across the country to the West.

Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.

In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.

The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

These boots rock with a cool pair of jeans. Found them to be pretty true to size, but as with other Frye boots I've purchased they tend to have a bit of heel slippage. Heel inserts take care of that if it bothers you. The more you wear them the better they look.

Awesome boots! Never thought I'd pay this much for a pair, but I would buy another pair. Comfortable, first time I wore them, it was all day at work and no problem! Heel is slightly loose, but no problem with socks on.

I own two pairs of Frye boots. I just purchased the Veronica Shortie in black to add to my collection, and it's a great boot so far. The quality is excellent and the sole looks like it'll hold up in puddles and bad weather. I love the relaxed style and that the shaft is wide open at the top. The foot part is a little stiff, and part of the heel cup is rubbing quite a bit. I hope everything will soften after I wear them longer. The leather color is more of a faded black and, at times, looks more blue-grey than black. I personally like this, and think it makes the book look really unique. Also, the color didn't change after spraying them with waterproofer. The footbed is comfy, but has a little less cushioning than my other Fryes. Finally, I wish there was better arch support in these. I may get an insole to help with that.

This is my third pair of Frye boots and I\'m just as happy with this pair as I was with the other two. The fit is generous which makes wearing them with thick socks on cold days easy. My only issue was that they look almost two-toned and the photo doesn\'t necessarily do that justice. At first I thought I might not like the color but after a few wears they look great and I think over time they will look even better. They are comfortable and sturdy. Great boots.

I put these on and was in foot heaven. It has been 25 year since I\'ve had a pair of Frye boots. It was all I wore in college. I came back to Frye because I remember how they are like a pair of jeans - over time they become part of your foot and feel wonderful.\r\n

I was looking at these boots last year and I finally decided to give them a try. They fit well (I went up half a size) and are a quality leather typical of Frye boots. I like the shorter height, since I am only 5'2. They are roomy enough around my legs.

Bought these in the butter. They are made of garment leather, so it's really nice and pliable, not stiff and hard like my Harness boots. Wanted the taller version, but they were gone, so I ordered these. They fit is right on, a little more true to size than some of the other Frye boots I have. Probably narrow for most people, but thank heaven I have narrow feet and it's nice to find shoes and boots that actually fit, and I'm not swimming around in width.

Great boots - I love these boots. They were hard to get on at first so I thought I would have to send them back. But I put on some smoother socks and used a shoe horn the first few times. Now they are easy to put on and very comfortable to wear. As you can tell from the pictures, they are very beautiful and well made. Great, great Zappos service also.

Frye's Veronica Shortie - Good shoe. I don't buy many shoes, but when I do, I will make sure that I buy a shoe that looks & feels great and will last a long time. I've checked the first 2 off, now only time will tell if I can check the last. I wear it with thicker/athletic socks so the socks don't slip down as much (as with any boot).

Super cute boots to go with spring dresses + more! At first I had my mind set on Carson boots, as they came in so many colors, but I was won over by these Veronica Shorties once I tried them on. For me (I'm 5'4"), Carson boots stopped at the biggest part of my calves and made me look dumpy, whereas these boots stopped just below that spot, giving me shape & made my legs look thinner. Since I planned to wear these with spring dresses for that sweet + tough look, these would be perfect! Even my husband likes them, which is a rare feat.

Frye's Veronica Shorite Boots-AWESOME - These are the most comfortable, awesome Frye boots that I have ever purchased. This is my second pair, as I am afraid they will stop making them and I won't be able to get them anymore. :)

Gorgeous. Gorgeous. Boot. So, I ordered this boot to replace another pair of riding boots that I had bought from a so-called "luxury" leather goods company. Those cost $325 with a discount coupon and fell apart within the first month. I came to Zappos looking for something of a higher quality with the same kind of style. I wasn't specifically thinking of ordering a Frye boot but I've always heard that Frye boots are where it's at. My one sort of difficulty in placing this order online was that I wasn't totally sure where the boot would hit on my leg. I have a very large calf so I need to be careful about boot height. I measured the 8-inch shaft height on my leg with a bare foot, but it's hard to know exactly where to start from (the floor? the approximate top of the low heel of the boot?) I wished that there would have been a picture of someone WEARING the boot. It was the first time I'd ever thought of a feature where Zappos may not be exceeding my expectations! I searched to find images of people wearing the boot and based on those, I decided to order. Still, when it arrived, gorgeous as the boot is, I wished it went like one inch higher. As it is, it stops JUST below my calf and is very loosely encircling that part of my leg (which I like). The boot is BEAUTIFUL; the dark brown color is just to die for, the perfect shade of rubbed dark brown. Everything about it was so beautiful, in fact, that I knew I had to keep it, even though it doesn't exactly replace the earlier boot I had to return. So, I kept them and I am wearing them today. They are REMARKABLY comfortable and I am getting used to the idea of the lower height. My main thing is to wear boots with dresses (which I am doing today) and I wasn't totally sure this would work but as I go about my business today I am getting lots of compliments and when I catch a glimpse of the overall silhouette in a window or mirror, I feel it is working. And who knows, with Zappos easy return policy, maybe I will try the taller version of this boot (the Veronica Slouch) and see if it works with my large calf. As always, a splendid experience shopping from Zappos, with incredibly quick delivery and outstanding service. LOVE YOU ZAPPOS. PLEASE TEACH THE REST OF THE WORLD TO BE JUST LIKE YOU.

I just received these boots, and I am hooked! I have several pairs of Frye's, and have been a Harness boot addict for several years. I bought a pair of Engineer's, but the top (especially the back) of the boot had rough spots that rubbed my leg raw and bleeding. These Veronica's are fabulous! The leather is much softer and of higher quality than any other Frye boot I've worn. Sleek and sophisticated look and these are now my go-to boots! Thanks Zappos!

Love this boot! Love the different olive green color in a boot. Frye boots run a little larger than shoes, so 9.5 feels good even though I might wear a 10 in some shoes. Quality is good...leather on shaft of boot very soft and on foot, firm. Will be a bit more comfortable once broken in. Very unique - I finally have my first pair of Frye boots! - COOL!
