Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

I love these boots! Great style and the antiqued leather is a great look. I usually wear a 7 and the 7 seems to fit although I will have to wear thin socks. I have read many reviews that say Frye's are snug at first, but to give the leather some time to stretch and form to your foot. I'm wearing thick socks with them around the house to try to stretch them a bit. The zipper on the back is such a great look but they do irritate my heels a bit. I'm really hoping this will subside over time.

These look cute but are so uncomfortable! I wear an 8, regular width. These have a narrow toe box and a wide heel and the sole is like a board. Just to clarify, they're very snug around my toes with no room to spare and barely touch my heel on either side or back, it just slides all over the place, exacerbated by the hard sole - guaranteed to cause many a blister. Its like the schizophrenic boot - it can't decide if it wants to be narrow or wide. In short, these are the most uncomfortable boots I've ever tried on. What a shame! These will be going back.

This is my first tall boot. I really needed something that I could wear to walk around in a lot. I ordered two of these to decide between two colors--kept the Cognac, it's not nearly as bright as pictured and is beautiful. At first I tried these on (7.5, my usual size) with thicker winter socks, but wound up getting some thinner socks, and with the latter the boots were great. There was a little rubbing on the back of one heel, and it was a little tight across one toe box. But I took these, after only one day or breaking in, on a trip as my only shoe and wore them for four days straight, walking all over NYC, day and night. Originally I would have preferred to wear pants outside of the boots, but none of mine have a wide enough flare, so I usually wear it with skinnies and skirts. Makes some jingling noise when I walk, but this could be remedied in a lot of ways. I do periodically have the snaps come undone, but usually it's something I've inadvertently done myself. Beautiful boot, great craftsmanship.

These boots are awesome! I have athletic legs so I had originally ordered the Veronica Slouch extended but they were too large in the calf. My calves measure 14.5 and the Veronica Zip are plenty large enough to wear with skinny jeans tucked in. I take an 8-8.5 so I ordered the 8.5. If you are in between like me, order the half size up. Overall the quality is excellent, they are comfortable and the style is edgy yet classic! I highly recommend!!
