Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

These are the most amazing boots I have ever had on my feet. I am a connoisseur of boots; mainly western. I purchased these to wear while driving my motorcycle but I'll be wearing them all of the time. I wear a size 10.5 and had to order an 11. They are true to size, so I'll be wearing thick socks! Worth every penny!

Just received these boots today. They are stunning, and are great for wide calves. They are sturdy and while hard to get on, are very comfortable. Worth every penny.

Okay, received these boots today in black. Sadly, I love them. I was kind of hoping I wouldn't like because of cost. Love the lived in look. Don't always like boots to look like I just got new boots. They are just so cool, not something you see every day. I feel this boot will always be in style. Kind of biker/ kind of western. I bought size 5.5, I normally wear 5. I am petite, my calf lg part is 11.5. These boots seem like they were tailor made for me. Also want to add these fit me so well, you might need to 1/2 size up from your normal shoe size. Did I say I love this boot? Better order before your size is gone. Don't let price scare you. I think they are worth the money.
I'd also recommend: Ugg, colehaan, coach

I ordered these boots after trying on many different styles and brands. I ordered one day...they were on my porch the next day! I was very impressed with Zappos. So anyway, I pulled the boots out of the box and loved them right away. The leather is beautiful and the quality is obvious. I always wear a 6 in pretty much every brand and I ordered these in a 6. When I put them on they were tight all over including on my 15 1/4 calves. So I called and ordered a 6.5. Again Zappos is awesome...received them the next day. They told me to take 30 days and then send back the one that does not fit! No additional charges for shipping or restocking or anything. Awesome...I am now a Zappos shopper for all my purchases! Back to the boot...it was odd...the 6.5 fit exactly the same but it seemed that the 6 was just a tad bit bigger in the calf. So, I kept the 6 and wore them to an event. Walked a lot and was surprised that these boots gave a little and it felt like they were custom made for me. This is my first pair of Frye boots but as soon as I can afford more, I will definitely have another pair and they will come from Zappos. I have to say, I never take the time to write reviews but I am just really surprised and pleased with this company. I have never had such a pleasant experience from an Internet company. Easy ordering, easy return and the lady I spoke to about the return was so sweet.

The boots have a much more weathered look than the Zappos picture. My usual boot size size is 10, so I bought an 11. The boots where hard to get into, but once I got them on, there was plenty of room for thick socks. I wore the boots, walking in the city for one day. The boots are heavy, the sole is a little hard but not unbearable. My calf size at the widest point is just over 17". With skinny jeans the boots on me look like slouch boots, I am ok with that. I will have the boots stretched by a shoe cobbler. I think for the price, they should have made the sole more comfortable. I am keeping the boots because I love the look.
