I bought these in Tan, I love the color. They fit true to size and come right below the knee. I found they fit perfectly over the calf and are very comfortable.

A nice looking boot. Only trouble I had was that they take a while to put on; my heel would not slide down smoothly and the first time it took me a good 5 minutes to put one boot on, but after a few uses it is getting a little easier. I have other Frye's, and they do not have this problem

These boots are amazing! I chose the tan and the color rocks. It's exactly what I was looking for, not too dark or too light. The fit is true to size and unbelievably comfortable. I can not wait to wear these all fall and winter with skinny jeans and leggings. So hot! Zappos you're amazing, too. I got these within 24 hours, thank you.

I so wanted these boots to fit. They are gorgeous, and I just love the natural distressing and butter-soft leather of the tan color. Although I am an average-size woman, I have 16.5" wide calves. According to the description that lists a 16.5" circumference, these boots should have fit... but they didn’t. Like other reviewers, I wrestled with these for several minutes just to get my foot it (I think that this is a design flaw), but then they didn’t fit around my calves anyway. I even called a reputable shoe cobbler about stretching them, but he told me that he had just stretched a pair of Frye boots and the calves only increased .25". So these beautiful boots are going back. So sad.

I love these boots, the leather is beautiful. They fit true to size. It is a bit difficult to get the boot over my heel, but once the boot is on, they are extremely comfortable.

The Frye Company was founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a shoemaker from England. Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers for both sides of America’s Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-America war, and for Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. Many New England families during the mid and late 1800’s wore Frye boots as they pioneered across the country to the West.

Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.

In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.

The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

My favorite boots ever! I have been looking for the perfect pair of riding boots since last winter and finally found them. They are as comfortable as they are beautiful! I got the red/brown color and they look great with everything: black, brown, navy, gray... Definitely an investment, but worth it. They have a timeless look and the quality is incredible. And as always, Zappos customer service can't be beat! They upgraded me to priority shipping at no cost. The boots arrived less than 2 days after I ordered them in perfect condition.

Yes, they're expensive. But they were worth it! I love these boots, and have worn them almost every single day since they arrived. I did put in a set of Dr. Scholl's because they were slightly roomy, but I didn't think a half size smaller would fit. And after about three wears they were perfectly broken in. The only thing I have to figure out now is how to afford a second pair in black!

Excellent first-time experience with Zappos. Free shipping is awesome and return process is even better. I ordered two sizes because I didn't know if they were true to fit; the Shirley riding boot was right on; a 7.5 is definitely a 7.5. Returning the 8 was easy and slick and the refund was applied in a very prompt time frame. I will shop Zappos whenever I am need of footwear again. Thanks for a great experience.

I tried ordering these boots on the Frye website and they were out of stock for 2 months! Zappos had my size, I didn't have to pay tax or shipping and got them within a week. They were exactly what I wanted, brand new, and I couldn't be happier. These boots are great. An extremely comfortable riding boot, the leather is absolutely gorgeous. I decided to buy these because I have Frye's Dorado riding boot in brown and this is my 3rd year wearing them and I believe they just get better with age. Frye riding boots are an example of a shoe that you will spend a good amount of money on, but that will last a very long time and continue to look awesome. I get complimented on my boots all the time and would definitely advise buying them if you are thinking about it.

I was so disappointed! These boots are gorgeous and just what I have been looking for, but I can't get them on! If you have a high arch don't try these; you can't slip your foot in the heel of the boot! Too bad they don't have a zipper, although the way they are made I'm not sure the fit for a foot with a high arch would be very good.

    I. Love. These. Boots. I got them in tan and I get compliments on them every day. They can be tricky to get on, they only work with skirts/dresses or skinny pants but they\'re gorgeous and comfortable. When I\'m going to be on my feet all day I put a gel insole in, but they\'re still quite comfortable without it.

These may be expensive boots, but they are by far the best shoe purchase I have ever made. I know they are excellent quality and will last me a very long time. I got these in Red Brown and they are beautiful. I get so many compliments on them! They are definitely worth the money. They also look like they're high-quality leather boots. There are some leather boots that just look cheap or poorly made, but these are incredible. They look like the high-quality boots they are. I'd recommend these to anyone.

Nice, but not for wide calf - Ok, I have 15.5" calves and don't know how they got their circumference measurements on these. It doesn't help that these are pull ons either, which just made the whole thing more difficult. But the construction is solid and the look is great.

A beautiful comfortable boot. This is a timeless style that works with both dresses and skinny jeans. I wear a 9-9 1/2 and have a 15 1/2 inch calf. I have these in a 9 and there's still room for a small orthotic to enhance the cushioning and arch support. They fit my calves comfortably with room for normal weight socks and skinny jeans and still a little room to spare. They are not overly tall, and stop about two inches short of my knee on my 5'4'' frame. I have noticed it can take a little effort to get my heel in the boot; however, this is fairly common with pull-on boot styles. As a plus, once your heel is in, it does not slip, unlike the very similar Frye Dorado riding boot. The black leather is not quite as luscious as the other colors are reported to be in the reviews; it's a little more stiff, but I have noticed this effect with shoes as well as bags. It must have something to do with how the leather is treated. (I have been very torn between these and the similar Frye Dorado boots; the Dorado are slightly prettier and more expensive but less comfortable, in my opinion. I may, however, still splurge on the Dorado in a different color.) Overall, a very beautiful, comfortable and versatile boot that I plan to wear for years.

The wide flappy part at the very top is too piratey. I thought it looked silly. Foot is okay, but not amazingly supportive or anything. And the little buckles just didn't look that good on.

Love these boots! I debated about the money I was spending on these but they will be worn for years to come. Absolutely some of the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. The leather is so soft! Also, my calves are a little wider and they fit perfectly. I can wear them with or without pants.

I love these boots! I bought the 8 1/2 at first, which is generally my size, but I had to return it for the size 8 because my heel slipped really bad in the larger size. The 8 is great - still a little heel slippage, but doable (might be my foot shape). I have never considered myself to have small calves, but I have plenty, plenty of room in these boots. Can wear with jeans tucked in no problem. I am wearing them with the cuff up, not down, and they come to my low knee. I’ve gotten lots of compliments and am very happy with my first pair of Fryes! They aren’t the most comfortable shoes ever (I live in TOMS!), but pretty good.

I have owned these boots for about five months and really liked them up until last week when I realized a hole had worn into the bottom of one. I do live in New York and walk quite a bit. However, there is no reason why boots that are this expensive, made by a company known for producing quality footwear, should wear out after such a short period of time. Also, be aware that if you have high arches, these boots can be difficult to pull on and off. Overall, very disappointing.
