Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

I find these run true to size. I am usually an 8½ to sometimes a 9. I got the 9 with the intention of wearing an orthotic with them. The 9 fits just a touch loosely without the orthotic and perfectly with it. So I am sure the 8½ would have been spot on. They have a nice cushioned footbed and are wide enough for comfort. I am not totally wild about the waxy overlay but know it will diminish with time. I do like how a bit of it gives a worn in look. They are comfortable right out of the box. They are very cool boots.

These boots are awesome! Very comfortable right out of the box, love the footbed, love the leather, love everything! In addition to a healthy dose of BAMF appeal, they are stylish without trying too hard. Great with skinny jeans, leggings, skirts, you name it. Love these.

I love these boots! I normally wear a 6.5 or a 7, and one foot is a half size larger than the other, so I always have a bit of difficulty finding shoes that fit properly. I ordered the 7. They went on the smaller foot pretty easily but I had to struggle a bit to get the larger foot in at first. After a few hours of wearing them around the house, I can pull them both on fairly easily now. Once on, they're incredibly comfy and don't pinch at all. Not too heavy on the foot either. They look adorable with skinny jeans, tights, or even bare legs and skirts.

Love these boots! Frye never disappoints. So comfortable from the first time you put them on. A must have for any shoe/boot lover! Like all Frye boots you need to order a 1/2 size down. I'm usually an 8 and the 7.5 fits perfect. Buy these boots...you won't be sorry.
