Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

These Frye heals are beautifully made and comfortable right out of the box. I bought the black leather and the vintage sheen is gorgeous! The stacked provides some sturdiness without making the shoe look heavy. I ordered a half size up per the feedback I read on the Zappos site, and the shoes fit perfectly. Love these!

got these in red. Love them! I get a lot of compliments from strangers all the time. Worth the price. I will buy in different colors when these wear off. I am in between a 7 and a 7 1/2. I ordered a 7 because I think half a size up they'll be too loose. Fits tight but not too tight. I like it this way.

I finally bought a pair of the Regina High Heel Pumps, and was supremely happy with the color and fit. Although I opted for half a size larger, based on the other review, I am now glad that I did, because I do not get the toe bumps that some shoes leave (because they are permanent once you get them on your shoes). A size 8 is what I usually wear, but the 8½ do not look or feel too big. They look and feel so good on, I wish that I could take all of my other shoes back, and start completely over with a closet full of Frye shoes (and boots). Frye's colors, variety, comfort and fit has me very regretful of the money that I spent on shoes of lesser quality. From this point on, I think that I will stick with Frye, because you really do get what you pay for. Worth every penny, because it is a very good investment! And with Zappos' excellent customer service, even if you make a mistake on the the size, you get very speedy turnaround on an exchange. Just all around great quality, both product and service!

I love my Frye boots and know size 6 fits me well. This is the first pair of shoes I've purchased and even though slightly bigger works well for heels, these are a bit too big. My heel slips out and they're brand-spanking-new. I am hoping to try a pair of 5.5. I know Frye makes them in that size. I would send these back pronto except that they're so beautiful. The craftsmanship is Frye, the heel and whip-stitching at the back of the heel gives them just the right amount of tough. I really want these to work for me. But, again, this pair in size 6 too big for my usually size 6 foot.

Love these shoes, even though I'll admit they're not the most comfortable ones I own! Took forever to break in (used the ice bag method), but they're gorgeous. I use them as a neutral color to pair with all my clothes that don't go with black shoes.
