Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

Gorgeous shoes, the color is amazing. I bought the chocolate glazed. The leather is rich and smell so good. Very comfortable and good arch support. I'm so in love with it. Boots lovers out there, you should get it.
I'd also recommend: Cole Haan, softt

So this was a total splurge and the only pair of boots I will buy this season because I already have a closet full. That being said, I love these boots! They are unique, with that gorgeous vintage leather and the studded harness gives just enough funk for this stay-at-home mom. The chocolate leather will go with anything you wear because of the distressed finish. They were a little snug through the ball of my foot, but nothing wearing them with thick socks to break in didn't fix. If you're going to splurge this season, give these boots a place in your closet!

I have several styles of Frye boots all size 6.5, which fit perfectly. These felt about 1/2 size too short, possibly because the back zipper takes up a bit of space. Zipper was a bit difficult to work, very stiff near the heel. Gorgeous in the dark brown, I'm contemplating re-ordering in a 7 but had to return the 6.5's.

Stunning boots and so comfortable to boot! I purchased the chocolate glazed vintage color after contemplating the black version for a long time. I am so glad I did not go with the black boots, I mean, who doesn't already own a pair of black boots, right? Yes, they do look beaten up but they really catch your eye and are super sexy!

This is a beautiful boot. I ordered it in black in a 9 (I am normally a 9) but it was pretty roomy. Now I am trying the 8.5, but it's snug. Kind of surprised since all the reviews say they fit true to size. Maybe another 9 will fit differently. Worth the effort, boot is great, quality of leather is very high.
