Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

Perfect. I have high arches and wider calves, and these fit perfectly. Sure there is some wiggling, but that is to be expected. They are comfortable, and look amazing.

Gorgeous boots. Very comfortable with a roomy calf (even for someone with larger calves like myself). Can't beat Frye quality. So glad I get to rock there boots for the next 30 years.

I love these boots! The wedge heel is great looking and even though they're high they're very stable. They also fit my "fat" calves without being stretched so they're great in my book. These have quickly moved up to the "favorite" spot in my Frye boot collection.

Love a good wedge boot! I was a little hesitant to purchase these because I've owned a pair of Fryes that just didn't fit me properly (although they were well-made, beautiful boots!). I purchased these based on reviews that said that they were wide in the calf. I have full calves and a medical condition that makes my left calf much fuller than my right. I own a professional boot stretcher to stretch my left boots. I didn't have to stretch these and agree that people who have slender calves might find them too loose in the shaft. I love the wedge height since I'm a shorty, and these are so comfortable! I don't feel like I'm wearing a high heel. They feel like a 2.5 inch heel at best. The footbed is super-comfy. I always measure a 7.5 on the measuring contraptions in shoe departments, and these are true to size. I love the no-skid bottom that helps with traction in wet weather. I feel quite stable in them. If there is one change that I would make, it would be that the heel be just a tad wider at the bottom for even greater stability, but I'm so glad that I took another chance on Frye!

I love these boots. I was secretly wishing I wouldn't because I hated to spend that kind of money again (I already owned two additional pairs of Frye boots), but as always, they are well worth the price. The shaft may be too large for people with smaller calves. The heel height seems much smaller than 4" and they are very easy to walk in due to the wedge heel. The quality of the leather is amazing. I purchased a cheaper pair of boots but ended up returning them and splurging on these. No comparison. You absolutely get what you pay for when it comes to Frye boots.
I'd also recommend: stick with Frye
