These boots just arrived on my doorstep and they are gorgeous! A very well-made, high quality boot. In response to the reviews that indicate that the ankle looks "weird" and make reference to "cankles," I would say that you need to understand that the style of this boot is somewhat slouchy. There will be some slouching in the ankle. It's not necessarily unflattering; it's just the style - a more relaxed look as opposed to a sleek, refined look.

I bought the size I usually buy, don't think I'd be able to get my foot into 1/2 size smaller. Certainly couldn't get my foot in with a wool sock on, even with ordering my usual size. Also, read a lot of reviews that say 'I have large calves and these leave plenty of room to tuck in skinny jeans', well ladies, you must not really have large calves, because I have to scrunch them down to get them on with tights. Big calves is a relative term. I'm keeping them regardless, love them. Super comfy all day on day one. Great Frye quality. Still think I must be crazy for spending this much on boots, but I rarely spoil myself (mother of 2). All in all, order in 3 sizes and try them all on. With free shipping and returns, you can afford to.

I just got this boot today and I am so excited! I took the other ladies advice on the size and they were right. I usually wear a 6.5 to 7 and I ordered a 6.5 and it fits perfectly. It did take some fighting to put them on at first but that is to be expected. Leather will break in after a few wears. The boot is a little on the loose side...but it is by no means slouch or baggy. The boot has perfect shape. If you are looking for a boot that is extremely tight around the calves, this boot is not for you. I wanted something that was a little more relaxed and would look good with anything. I have a very busy 2 year old so I needed something to throw on and still look cute. These are perfect. Worth the money for sure!

I was so excited to get these boots in after I ordered them, but I was pretty disappointed. The ankle fits really weird, there is about a 2 inch gap between the front of my ankle and the boot.

About Frye
Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

Love at first sight and very comfortable as well. I ordered a size 9, which is my regular shoe size, and am happy with the fit. I have no trouble getting the boots on and off either. Great investment!

These boots are so beautiful and soft. The first few times, I had trouble getting them on my right foot, which tends to be a little bigger. That was frustrating but now that they are broken in, I'm completely in love with them!

I was very excited when these arrived at my home. They are a really nice pair of boots. Too bad I had to return them, my legs are too short. I'm 5'4". I would recommend them for a taller person, or someone with longer legs.

The leather is nice, high quality and the brown is a dark deep brown. The detailing is lovely. There's a bit of break-in time and these run true to size unlike some of other Frye boots (like Carson). I don't think there are issues with the ankle. The front detailing slims the ankle and the pull-on style has to give a bit of room at the ankle so that you can pull these boots on. The leather outsole is delicate and I recommend getting a rubber sole to cover up the leather if you plan to walk a lot.

I really like these boots. They don't have a fitted shape, so they're loose around the ankle which gives them a floppy, slouchy look. I like that because it makes for more of a casual look than my other boots that kind of dress things up. The quality is what I expect from Frye. Top notch construction and beautiful soft leather. Great for everyday wear. I was hoping to test them out on ice and snow when I was home in Canada for the holidays but, alas, it wasn't a white Christmas.

I've been hunting for the perfect Frye boots for awhile now. The Paige Trapunto is the perfect boot for me! The others were a little too "western" looking for me or did not fit my calves. I thought the Melissa button had promise, but the top of the calf was a little snug, so I returned them. These, however, are so perfect, I'm glad I didn't settle! They are the perfect blend of casual, sophisticated and can easily dress up or down. I had no problem fitting them over my calves which can sometimes be a problem. The leather is buttery and soft, but the boot is sturdy. Love them!

These are made from beautiful quality leather in a timeless casual style that goes great with my skinny and slim fit jeans. I have medium muscled shapely calves and i can easily stuff my jeans and a thin wool sock through the shaft. I wear a size 8 or 7½, but I decided on the 8 in case the socks did not fit. The calf of the boot, especially around the ankle area is not structured or fitted, hence the slouch moniker. If you are picky about your ankle profile or are looking for smoother look, find yourself an equestrian boot instead. There does not seem to be much in the way or arch support (I am normal arched) but there is enough room to place and insert if needed.

These boots are gorgeous. This is the 7th pair of boots I've ordered from Zappos - and for one reason or another - the styles didn't seem right. This is classic, beautiful and worth every penny of the price. (I've never spent that much money on boots before.) However, because of my high arch, I can't get my foot down into the foot bed to see how they really fit, and sadly will have to return them. Am not sure if all Frye's are this way, or just this particular style. Also like the Celia X stitch, but thinking I may have the same issue with those.

These boots are so beautiful! A+. Quality leather and design. I'm 5'3 and calves measure 14" with skinny jeans and these fit perfectly aside from needing to be worn on a little, nevertheless I'm in love.

These boots are just beautiful! They are gorgeous leather inside and out, and the quality is evident throughout. They are expensive, but even my mom, who is the biggest penny pincher, thought their quality was worth the money. I have a size 11, and they fit perfectly. Although, I do have a narrow foot. I think someone with a wide foot would not think they fit as well. Also, I sometimes have to order 12s for length, but the 11's fit fine. So, I think they might run larger than some brands (I think that is actually a sign of quality). The cognac color stands out and is so beautiful.
