I saw the picture on the website and was excited about a different kind of female Frye so I had to get it. After buying I experienced a little "am I sure I wanted these?" and I kept going back to the website to have a look at the pictures again. However, the second I received these I promptly forgot about any doubt that I may have had. These are just downright cool. By far they are one of the coolest shoes that I own. I got the black/chocolate color and I could not stop feeling the shoes and trying them on. I love that these can be worn several different ways, depending on the look you are going for. I preferred to lace mine just over half way and tuck the laces in the sides of the boot by my ankle (that is right folks I did not tie my laces). Yes it does take a while to loosen the laces and then tighten them again but when you have shoes this awesome you should not care. I choose not to wear them with the cuff folded down, I like that the sides naturally peel away from the ankle to give an open look. The laces are durable so that you do not actually need to tie them up and your feet will not slip out no matter where you choose to wear your laces to. I also liked that the tongue of the shoe was attached to the inside of the shoe, it was not a loose tongue. The shoe is actually rather roomy, without being too big. I bought my usual size (8½) and would not change it at all: I could wear one pair of thick socks, or two pairs of normal socks if I wanted to. The color is excellent, the leather is excellent and sturdy, the laces are durable. Within a couple of hours of wearing these I had compliments. This short cuff down style seems to be in at the moment, but these are by far the coolest of all the cuffs.

About Frye
Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.
