Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

My boyfriend ordered these for me as a Christmas present this year and they are without a doubt the most comfortable pair of heels that I have ever slipped my feet into. I suppose they are a present for him too since I will not be complaining about how much my feet hurt when I wear them out with him. I have worn them nonstop for the past two days and I have not had the slightest bit of pain. My feet are a touch on the wider side and I had no problems with the width. The shoes are really well made. The leather seems like it is going to hold up really well and hide any future wear and tear. The color is great, goes with pretty much everything! I can tell these are going to be my favorite shoes for years to come!

These are very comfortable shoes - I have them in another color, and was excited to get what I was expecting to be an actual dark brown. Turns out the treatment to the leather for these shoes makes them look really weird - the burnishing makes the leather look really chalky. That is not what I was expecting nor wanted.

These shoes are beautifully made, well worth the steep price if you want something that is this fashionable and comfortable. The three inch heel is no problem to walk in and surprisingly comfortable over the long haul. The shoe has a 1940's glamor to it, but the slightly burnished finish to the polish keeps it from being too dressy. Easily a sexy casual shoe as well as a dress up shoe. I was really hesitant about the price of the shoe, but in this case, I really feel I got what I paid for. I think these will be good shoes for many years.

These are amazing. Cute and comfortable. I am a flats, boots and sneakers type of girl - but for work I have to wear heels. These have to be the most comfortable heels I've worn that are also flattering and fun to wear.
