Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

I wish this shoe could have worked. Beautiful quality and craftsmanship, but the heel cushion hit me in a funny spot and it didn't match anything in my closet.

This is truly a beautiful shoe. Ladies, if you're looking for a four season black pump to last you more than two years, this is it! Normally I go for a 10 in flats and hiking shoes and a 10.5 in pumps. I ordered an 11 after reading the other reviews about the narrow toe box (they're true) and they feel very comfortable. As with other Frye shoes, I will be taking them to my cobbler to put a more durable outsole on them.

I wear custom ¾ length orthotics and very few shoes will fit them. These run true to size have just enough depth and with the comfortable straps they keep my feet secure. The Frye quality is absolutely amazing these are my foot doctor's words not mine. I thought that I had to give up high heels until I found these beauties. Enjoy hours of looking good and walking secure!
I'd also recommend: Any Frye shoe!!!

This shoe is just beautiful. The leather is soft and despite the high heel, it's easy to wear. The toe box is a bit small, so if you have difficulty with that, it could be a problem. Otherwise, highly recommend!

The shoe is beautiful and well made as all Frye shoes are. I had to return as this shoe is very narrow. I have wide feet. I have another Frye Mary Jane shoe that is over 7 years old and still in good condition. I only wish this shoe was as wide as that pair!
