Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

These are a sexy and modern interpretation of the lace-up bootie. They are quite comfortable considering that the shoes have a high height; the platform helps. They feel true to size to me and the laces allow for some adjustment of tightness. The are a pretty true M width, although a bit on the narrow size. The Frye Mimi Lace boots are beautiful and trendy looking but I am holding back a star because these are made in China despite Frye's insistence on their image as an "all American" company. My Frye Chinas never last as long as my USA made Fryes (which last forever). However, these are better quality than many other brands and should last for a while.

I've been hunting for the perfect lace up booties of the season, and I decided to try these after reading stellar reviews on multiple online retailer sites. These should not cost $288. As the other reviewer pointed out, they are made in China. I don't know if the craftsmanship was subpar because of its manufacturing origin, but for a pair of shoes of this price range, I expected better. There is a transverse stitching that separates the toecap from the vamp, and it bothered by feet. It's unfortunate but COO does make a difference in quality. The shoes were quite stiff, and looked bulky. Maybe with wear, the shoes will become more comfortable, but I sent them back. As usual Zappos was exemplary with shipping and customer service.

Love this shoe! They are very sturdy on my foot and I forget how high they are until I take them off. I can wear them all day and forget I have them on. You can also walk fast in them without losing your footing.

These are the most amazingly comfortable shoes I have ever owned. I can wear them all day and am pretty sad to take them off. Frye has done it again. I found them true to size and not narrow at all. I am on to purchasing my second pair in another color. If you are considering these, you will not be disappointed.

I love these boots! Very comfortable and stable to walk in despite the heel. Great cushioning in the foot bed, and the molded rubber platform offers additional shock absorption as well as flexibility. I get lots of compliments on these from both men and women. Hope to get a pair in black (I have the taupe). Like another reviewer, I gave an overall 4 stars for being made in China. Although I'm very glad to have these boots and want another pair, I almost didn't buy them because they were not made in the U.S.
