This is my first pair of Fryes and I made a great choice. The shaft of the boot is unique, but that's one reason I ordered them. I like that they feel a little lightweight. The shaft is a little slouchy. They are easy to get on and off even without zippers. These boots were comfortable from the moment I took them out of the box. There was absolutely no break-in period necessary. I won't do it all the time, but I once wore them without socks and they were fine. My feet are narrow...I normally wear an AA, but even so, these are perfect and I won't have to wear super thick socks. However, if I wanted to, there is room to do so. I would not hesitate to recommend these boots as well as Zappos. Shipping was fast and the transaction was flawless.

Love the cognac leather/canvas combination! I'm sure you can wear them all year long, but it is great to have a pair that is not as heavy looking for the warmer weather! True to size length/width wise, so I highly recommend you get your regular size. Very comfortable and didn't have any issues from Day 1 after walking around for hours.

The low heel makes them completely comfortable and beautiful. The zipper makes for easy on/off, pants tucking and barefoot wearing. I'm a teacher and these are perfect. Gorgeous, stylish, cute and comfy. I'm short with chubby legs and they look great. My friend with skinny ankles looked less cute in them. They kind of swam on her. Like most Frye's, the sole is slippy at first. Expensive, but lovely.

About Frye
Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

LOVE love love these boots. I gravitate towards red shoes, I'll admit it - a holdover from my childhood love of The Wizard of Oz - so I was drawn to these as soon as I saw them. They are gorgeous, soft and fit like a glove.

Yikes, I loved these right out of the box. I bought them in Fawn which is a beautiful golden brown. They have been comfortable from day one. I have a narrow foot but they fit great with ample room for my toes. There is plenty of cushion so I don't even need to add inserts. They are so gorgeous and I find myself staring at them a lot. I even hate to take them off! Well worth the money for this kind of quality. Thank you Zappos for the fast free shipping!

Wow, is this a gorgeous boot in the rich bordeaux color! I've been searching for a pair of Frye boots and these fit the bill. I generally wear a 9 and these feel a teensy bit big but that's perfect for thicker socks. I foresee them looking great with jeans as well as slacks and they are definitely going to Paris with me next week! Ever grateful to Zappos for their generous and quick shipping that allowed me to try a few styles before settling on these.

I have never spent this much on a pair of shoes. I figured, because I have ankle and pronation problems, it was time to start taking good care of my feet with good shoes. These boots looked nice when they arrived, but what a disappointment. They seemed fine at first so, I wore them to work the next day. These boots get marked up so quickly! By the end of the day I was limping...one shoe felt horrible against the bottom of my foot, and as a pair, they have no arch support whatsoever, and it is like walking on uneven ground. The leather, while easily marked, is nice, but for this kind of money, I think shoes should be supremely comfortable right out of the box. Thanks to Zappos, I was able to return. I just wish Zappos international shipping charges were more like some other sites (I can't fault the return policy, though).

These are by far the greatest boots I've ever bought. I read another reviewer's comment about the pretty color, so I decided to get the red ones, also. They are a subdued red (more like burgundy), and they coordinate with so many outfits. They are classy, well-crafted and consistent with the Frye reputation. I love them.

I wanted a short boot, but have trouble accommodating a bunion on one foot, so I needed something a bit wider than many stylish boots run. This one does it. I bought a half size larger than normal, and with the zippered entry and a bit wider toe box, it is comfortable and good support for walking and for all-day wear. The one caution: those side zippers are hard on the opposite leg's tights and socks! Frye makes a good boot, so I know this one will hold up well.

Love this boot! I usually wear a size 8½, but I have a wide foot and short toes, and for some reason, I always wear an 8 in Fryes. Super slippery leather sole at first, but you just need to scuff it up on some rocks once you decide to keep them. The bordeaux red satisfies my childhood dream of red cowboy boots without being too flashy or hard to match. I have thick calves, so I can't wear knee-high boots comfortably, so this shortie boot with inside zip is really easy to get on and off (for a boot).

I bought these boots for my girlfriend and she absolutely loved them. I own a pair of the man's harness boots and you cant beat the quality and look that comes with a pair of Frye's. I got her exact size and she said they fit perfectly.
