I just bought these boots in black and they are amazing! They are my second pair of Fryes, my first being the Veronica Shortie in Cognac. The Maxines are incredibly comfortable and feel like they have an extra layer of padding in the footbed. They have enough room to fit over my skinny jeans yet don't slouch like crazy when I wear them with tights. And the leather is so soft! Totally worth every penny. I love Fryes!

This is seriously the best boot that I've ever purchased. I have the tan color, which goes with everything. I am between a 6.5 - 7, so I ordered the size 7 and the size is perfect. I'm able to tuck my jeans in and still have room, but it's most easy wearing tights or very slim jeans. Living in NYC I obviously walk everywhere. The first time I wore these boots I walked a mile to work and a mile back and it wasn't a problem and there was absolutely no pain. I've worn these every other day since I bought them and I'm so happy with them that I just might buy a pair in another color!

Gorgeous in the box, and the smell! I could have eaten them up. But on the foot, not so great. Difficult to put on, as noted by another reviewer, and just not as good-looking on me as the Carson Harness. The right boot shaft seemed to be quite a bit larger than the left and gaped widely at the calf. Going back...hope another Zappos customer will have more success with them.

I love the look of these boots, but getting them on is really difficult. Once on they look great. People say as I wear them they will stretch and get easier to get on. Not sure I can deal with the wait.

They fit true to size for me. I always wear thicker socks with boots and go a half a size up. These actually fit my calves (which these days most boots are too big) I don\'t consider myself to have skinny legs, I would say average so that is nice no large gap. They are comfortable out of the box so far a bit of padding in the footbed which is a nice change. Wearing them for the the first time today. I walk 15 minutes to class and they are perfectly comfortable. Well made and strong smell of leather. Good quality and worth every penny. A bit tough biker chick look which I like, I just wish they were just a touch more feminine, but I LOVE them. Frye is keeping up the quality with these boots.

Additional Brand Information

The Frye Company was founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a shoemaker from England. Frye is the oldest continuously operating shoe company in the United States. Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers for both sides of America’s Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-America war, and for Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. Many New England families during the mid and late 1800’s wore Frye boots as they pioneered across the country to the West.

Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.

In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.

The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.
