Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

I wear an 8.5 and when I opened the box, I thought for sure there has been a mistake. It looked like a 13! Not to offend those who where a 13, but I am 5'3 and on the petite side. They were huge and looked even bigger. Not attractive look.

I have the Maggie wind tip in blush and dusty pink colors and I am very pleased with the style and fit of the shoes. So I decided to go ahead and give this new woven style a try. The fit is off by half a size but I decided to keep it and thought the insert will help. I totally agreed with the first reviewer that the shoes look kind of big. I was concerned if I go down half a size, the width will be too tight. I have worn them a couple times, they are very uncomfortable and the heels do slip a little. That was a big mistake, now I cannot return them! Also, I just notice on the left shoe that a strung of the woven leather is fraying off from the bottom sole! Sorry Frye, Maggie woven workmanship is lousy and definitely not worth the price.

I have Maggie Perf in four colors, size 9, true to size. These shoes are FABULOUS!! Perfect heel height for jeans and I even wear them with dress pants. Very well made. I get at least one compliment EVERY time I wear these. Yes, they do look kind of big, but I think that's just the nature of a wingtip. I want them in PURPLE, please.

I am a Frye addict. Everything about a Frye shoe is perfect with the exception of this shoe. It looks like a very poorly made, inexpensive shoe, not at all like the quality of other Frye shoes. Trying them on for the first time the tongue pulled out, glued not sew-in. For the money ridiculous.
