I loved the finish on the shoe but I had to return. The cut of this shoe on is so unattractive. The shoe fit but it would not stay on my foot even with the strap and I couldn't even walk in them.

I agree with the previous reviewer. These didn't work. I found the strap slid to an awkward position on my foot because it's only attached on the bottom and it pivoted from there. I took the strap off and it wasn't an attractive pump. Leather was lovely. My favorite style of the Lois line is the oxford; it's sleek. I wore them for ten hours on the first day and they were quite comfortable. The dark brown leather is really nice. The grey is nice too, with a greenish cast on the lighter area near the toe.

I love these shoes, though it took some tweaking to get the fit right. My foot is a little narrow, and this style is a little wide, allowing me to slide forward, and then the heel slips. It is a true 8. The 7½ was too short. I ended up putting one of those silicone grippers inside the heel, and now no slipping. I am so impressed with the quality of Frye shoes. This is my fourth pair! I will be coming back for more!
Brands I'd also recommend: Vintage Shoe Co.

Very stiff sole. Very very stiff, like wooden clogs. Can't imagine why they would make it like this. Also, they don't make it in narrow, which I need. I was hoping they would fit because I like the looks. (Though in person the heel is heavy looking. My size 11 may have something to do with that, but thought I'd mention it.) They are well constructed and materials are good quality. But with the stiff sole and lack of narrow sizes, I'm returning them.
Brands I'd also recommend: Clarks, Born, Softwalk

This is a gorgeous, well-made shoe that looks great with jeans and with skirts. The leather is hard, and there is a definite breaking in period -- I spent a few hours a day, for three or four days, wearing them with thin socks around the house -- but they will break in, and they will be comfortable once they do. Thanks to the hidden platform, the heel height is very comfortable as well.

About Frye
Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

Returned 'em. This is the second Frye item that has looked great online and then fit horribly and been uncomfortable. As a previous reviewer wrote these slip off your feet even if they're the right size. I kept a pair of Frye boots I bought last year, and they're horribly uncomfortable. The leather stays very, very hard. Too bad because they're pretty!

I loved these shoes online -- a lower heel, which is generally more comfortable, and Mary Jane styling, which I love because I like to keep my feet secure. I debated over these and the Frye Miranda MJ, and decided on these because of the lower heel. I ended up returning the Lois as I felt they looked a bit clunky and were way too big. The tightest setting on the strap (there are only three holes) was too loose. I exchanged them for the Frye Miranda and am very happy with those. Return was easy and I got my new shoes next business day!

Very difficult to walk in, there is no give to the front of the shoe and feels like you are walking on a wooden block. Very cute and nice finish to the leather but no way could I walk anywhere in this shoe - had to return.
