Pros: nice quality Frye. Comfortable height. Nice proportions from a bird's eye view. Cons: tight in toe, loose in heel; looked a bit like Wicked Witch of the West shoes, my 12 year old daughter noted, and I agreed. I think I get what Frye's trying to achieve with the heel; add a western flair to a retro look. I'd rather see this heel on a boot, and would like the heel to be more upright in this style. I liked the front view but not the side because of the heel and bulky flap. My heel slipped out as I walked, and at this price, I don't want to risk trying inserts. The flap, while nice, makes a big shoe (like the tens I wear) seem bigger and bulkier. Might be nicer on smaller feet. I may go back to the oxford to avoid heel slippage and the extra bulk of the flap and tassels, and hope the leather stretches in the toe area. So far, the fall Frye shoes have disappointed. The boots, on the other hand, have been winners. Love the Janes.

I love Frye shoes, I rave about them. There were some mid heels similar to these a few years ago, but just in the oxford style. I saw these and thought, "Finally! mid heels again!" and I remember not having to break in my older shoes, never a blister and I could walk in them all night. These do not live up to my expectations. I was glad to read another reviewer found these too narrow in the toe. I did as well. I found the heel loose, too. But it also dug into my right heel. The sole is soft and comfortable, maybe good for narrow feet. Maybe good if I wear hose? Nonetheless, for the price of Frye shoes (and my long relationship with Frye), I expected a much better fit. Aesthetically, they are lovely for my taste, but there are some obvious problems in quality, namely the tassels and flap. On the left shoe, the whole situation is not centered. I tried to adjust that but it is all sewn together and what you see is what you get. That little bow tie is the only thing between your foot and that elastic band... how long before that breaks? I bought these for a private art event tomorrow night in the city, and I am frustrated that I may have to return them. I have never returned a Fye product, and the brand reliability is a must for me.

I was excited to get these for work but unfortunately the fit is awful. They are more pointed than they look and the heel part was not snug enough. My foot pops out as I walk and they are so thick and stiff in the sole that they will never break in. I'll have to send them back.

I love Frye but they got it wrong in the fit of this shoe. The style is so cute and I had to place cushion pads in the toe in order for my heel not to slip out. For the money you really shouldn't have to work so hard to make a shoe fit. I do love the look though.

These are very comfortable. They run true to size. They are functional as I can wear these shoes with black, brown, or grey dress pants.

The Frye Company was founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a shoemaker from England. Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers for both sides of America’s Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-America war, and for Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. Many New England families during the mid and late 1800’s wore Frye boots as they pioneered across the country to the West.

Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.

In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.

The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

Cute as the dickens. Lamentably narrower than I would have liked. So I'm going to order up a half size to accommodate my flap-like flippers. The leather is very firm, but they sure are pretty!

These are super cute and the leather finish is especially pretty. The sizing is true; however, the toe box is just a little narrow. I recommend wearing them with heavier socks at first and then hose after break in.

These shoes are beautiful. They can be a bit heavy and are narrower on the front than what they seem but a little loose in the back (heel).

The style works with skirts, dress pants or jeans and the leather is very fine. The comfort level is OK. My feet hurt after a short time wearing them-too much pressure on the ball of the foot for me.

Love, love, love these shoes! I saw these shoes at full price and watched until they went on sale, then snatched them up. They are very well made. Great workmanship. Thank goodness they went on sale, otherwise I wouldn't have purchased, even though they are worth every penny, a lot of money in this economy! The fit is true and the toe box is very roomy. You must have a strong fashion attitude to carry them off! I am very happy with my purchase.

These are beautiful shoes. Unfortunately they are very uncomfortable! I love these, but after having them on for a minute I know I cannot wear them. The toe box is very narrow, the heel is loose and slips up and down with each step, and the sole is completely stiff, solid, and inflexible! What good are stylish shoes that I cannot stand to wear?

This shoe was very pretty and I really wanted to keep it, but I found that the toe was short. One foot did slip at the heal which I could fix with a shoe insert. The shoes were very well made and the leather was beautiful, but I decided that I needed to return them because of fit and the flap was a little bluky and caught on my slacks.
