The look is exactly what I was expecting for a logger boot. I wear a 9.5 in every other shoe I own, but they were too large and exchanged them for a 9 and they fit great. The break-in period was a few days, but after that they fit great. Good construction of the boot. Gotta love a Frye!

I have other Frye boots and these fit tighter than their harness styles.Ok for logging and running a little, like across a street, without tripping. In a store I might have passed. They are definatly thinner than I expected.Frye doesn\'t have width options which is too bad. These boots do look ok with a suit but most shoes look bigger.I haven\'t walked long distances with them because city streets are so filthy my other loggers get picked. They are good for motorcycle riding with the tight fit and height. They also look what they cost, which, compared to upscale brands is moderate.I would not use these in woods with a chainsaw,if you don\'t wear safety boots for chainsawing go with Danner. These boots are better than most build wise but don\'t feel the same as other loggers or workboots.Maybe it is the old fashioned build or the small scale for a boot.More like a shoe with tall treads than a boot.

These boots arrived looking pretty bad - the laces were on, all the usual tissue paper stuffing was mangled looking or gone, and the boots looked like they had been crushed in the box. I bought the last pair in stock and they were $50 off, and I'm assuming this is why. Accepting the condition due to the discount, I decided to give them a shot. I've been wearing them a week now, and couldn't be happier. The good leather regained its shape after a few wears, and the Gaucho color has a great look. The boots are sturdy and solidly built, and they feel like they will last a very long time (as my other Fryes have.) I love the boots so much I plan to get them in black as well. For the record, even though they are called "Loggers", they are not suited for work. They are good quality boots, but they don't have the safety and durability of true work boots. Overall I'm happy with the purchase, but I was surprised with Zappos for the first time for the less than desirable condition of the shipped product. I love buying from Zappos and it wasn't a dealbreaker, but it was a little disappointing to see that they made it out of the warehouse in that condition.
Brands I'd also recommend: Skechers Logger Boots (if you want the same look on a budget they are great.)

After a bad experience with Frye's Rogan Lace-ups, I bought these, and they are supremely better made than the Rogans. I am not sure if I would take them logging, seeing as how they are more fashionable than functional, but they are super comfortable, and seem to stand up to moderate abuse. The leather is fantastic, and of course a Vibram sole will last forever. Overall a great buy.

About Frye
Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.
