Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

Love these shoes. They look awesome with dark jeans (brown ones) and are really comfortable. I think they are my new favorite shoes. They are a bit pricey, but it is leather, so they should last a while. They also run about a half a size bigger.

Fits okay, but leather is a little stiff and doesn't break in easily.
I'd also recommend: camper

I bought these for my dude who had been wearing the old pair of Frye leather high tops I gave him a few years back -- I was afraid the old ones would walk away at night so started looking for a replacement. Frye didn't make his old ones anymore so I got these instead and they even have more arch support than the old. They are true to size and extremely durable -- this guy is hard on his footwear! They are Frye quality through and through.

I spent a lot of time shopping on Zappos and trying different shoes before I settled on these; and I am quite happy with my decision. These shoes look even better in person, and the leather is phenomenal with subtle variations of the color of the leather in the shoes. In the first week the shoes were stiff, in the second week the shoes were not quite broken in, but they were usable, in the third week I did not notice any discomfort at all. I have received multiple compliments and my friends have described the shoes as perfect for between casual and dress. I am usually around a 10½ for Nike or Clark desert boots, but I had to size down to a 9½ in these shoes and they fit great. The greatest strength of the shoes may be that they have more of a unique look than the standard chukka that I have been seeing around recently.

These shoes are classy, worth the expense, but I must say that the sizing has been a real challenge. Returns are a pain, even as easy as Zappos makes it! I'm going to end up wearing a full size and a half smaller than my usual fit. Those who are saying these shoes are just a half size small are underestimating; from my experience. Unfortunately, now I'm on a wait list for a size that will work, when I could have just bought them originally had I known. Otherwise, these are a great buy!
