These are beautiful shoes, super supple leather in a great finish, but very narrow...so, sadly, they will be going back.

Too narrow! Very nice, has great potential to be the most comfortable shoe once broken in. My feet are narrow and petite, and these are too narrow and tight for me. Too bad! Still deciding whether to return or stretch these.

These are very classy loafers. They are well-made and I think they will probably last a long time. The leather is a little stiff in the beginning. There was pressure on my toes at first, but never any blisters. And after wearing them for a few minutes, I would no longer feel the pressure. There is no room to insert any orthotics, which is good, actually, because if they were bigger, they would look like boats. The olive color is so gorgeous. Goes with anything!

Thrilled with these shoes. My feet are fairly narrow--I'm usually able to wear regular width, but when fit is very important (running shoes, for example) I purchase a narrow width. These were fine width-wise for me. I also have fairly flat feet, to the point where I have ankle pain if I wear shoes without arch support for an extended period of time. I typically use SuperFeet insoles in shoes that do not have enough arch support initially. While these shoes have not yet been uncomfortable, I will be purchasing a set of insoles for them--they simply do not have enough arch support for me over the long run.

Seem a bit narrow, especially at first. However, broke in nicely and are extremely comfortable. Highly recommend!

About Frye
Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

These are styled a little long, but seem pretty true to the Frye 11s I have, like the Erin Oxford. I did not find them too narrow, and instead thought they were a little looser than ideal; I generally wear a B without a problem, but do have long slender feet. The pair arrived with a white sheen of wax on them, which I buffed off (I got the burnt red color) to make the finish more to my liking. Overall, I'm very pleased with the shoes, and looking forward to spring, when I can wear them without socks.

The ultimate loafer. I love these shoes. They are black and faded in some areas, which is cool. Pant legs usually cover up the faded areas. I can wear them with wide leg or straight leg pants. Like on the TV show TLC's What on to Wear, pointed toe is a more flattering shoe, which these are. The shoes are very sturdy. I wish they came in more colors. Worth the price. I can wear these to work with dress pants or casual on the weekend with jeans.

These are very cool loafers! I purchased the tan and I love the sort of distressed look of the leather. These shoes are made very well. Heavy-duty leather soles and fabulous craftsmanship (not made in China). They do run a bit narrow and can look long on the foot. I do think they run large, I sized down a whole size due to heel slippage. My feet are on the narrow side and my heels tend to slip, so sizing down worked for me. Love them!

Beware! These are narrower than the other Frye James models. I have the oxford and the wingtip, and love them. But I fear these may never break in. I have a wide foot, high instep/arch, but the other Fryes all fit in a 7.5. These, not so much.

I got these in the red which is a great color but they run very large. I wondered if they are a men's shoe that ended in the women's shoes.

I have a narrow foot, and this shoe seemed to run a 1/2 size too long. I have other shoes from Frye that fit well at a size 9, but my heels slipped right out of these loafers in size 9. However, they are a great shoe and I've already ordered a half size down.
