I was hesitant to buy these shoes because the cost is about double what I normally spend on shoes. I am definitely glad I spent the money. The shoes feel great and are only getting better as I wear them more and more. I am very happy with the shoes. I think they are pretty stylish too, although I am no style expert. Some of the white coloring wears off a bit after wearing the shoes.

I am not one to spend too much on shoes but I think this was a great purchase. I wear these shoes at least 3 days a week and my feet feel fine after a long day. I love the "antique" style leather; I think the shoes look really sharp!

After years of looking in department stores for a distressed look, leather sole, casual oxford shoe...I finally found it on Zappos! I've never paid more than $100 for a pair of shoes, so this price was a big gamble. It paid off. I love these shoes, the look, and comfort is incredible...a bit snug at first but over a short time they conform to your feet making an incredible fit. I bought them in tan in July and liked them so much, I just bought another pair in black 3 months later.

So far so good after 3 months of every-other-day use. These are very comfortable, if a bit heavy, since the leather sole is very thick. The "antique patina" goes away quickly with use, or if you try to use any sort of cream/polish, but they are still good-looking. I have one spot on the heel which is delaminating a little, and I need to get that re-glued. I'm happy with this shoe.

I really like the look and feel of the shoe, but I have to say that I was disappointed to find out that it was made in Mexico. One of the reasons that I try to buy Frye boots is that they are US made.

About Frye
Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

I have had a pair in brown for a couple years, and recently ponied up for a pair in black. I love this basic, classic style and they are built to last. My brown pair have been a versatile work and play shoe - very cool and old school!

There is a tradeoff between construction and style in footwear, and to excel in one, the other is typically compromised. I love the sturdy build of Red Wing boots and I will unload my paycheck on the perfect aesthetics of A.P.C. shoes. Somehow at a price substantially below what I feel these shoes are worth, Frye has harmoniously fused [nearly] bulletproof construction with timeless style. If you are looking for a leather-soled shoe that will take you to work, a wedding, and armageddon, look no further.

These became my new number one pair of shoes almost instantly. They look terrific and the craftsmanship is obvious. They're not the most comfortable pair of shoes, but I'm still breaking them in.

It's a nice shoe with a great thick new leather smell. It was a little rougher made - more casual - than I was expecting. I wouldn't wear this shoe with a suit.

These are well-constructed shoes, and incredibly stylish. As noted by another reviewer, the antique patina applied by the manufacturer wears off rather quickly, but provides a nice base for building your own polish/color. Unfortunately, these are some of the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever owned. They provide little or no arch support and no cushion through the footbed. After standing in these while teaching for 3+ hours I suffer serious pain in my lower back and heels. If I were buying thee again, I would get at least a half size large to accommodate adding a serious insole of some sort.

Great looking shoe. The shoe arrives with a light patina that wears off and looks great. I bought these shoes a few weeks ago and look forward to wearing them each week. Well made...as you'd expect from Frye. Comfortable. I've received lots of compliments on this shoe.

These are great shoes. You will command respect with these. They have a double thick sole that provides walking comfort and maximum life without becoming flimsy like thin soled department store shoes. Someone needs to issue a press release that thin-soled shoes are not cool, in fact, they are cheesy. Vintage American Style is finally coming back in fashion, and these are that. The only knock is that sides of the sole can become scuffed and show the light-colored leather... but can be re-stained easily. Frye shoes are the best value/quality. These may have some very minor imperfections. Yes, there are nicer shoes, but you usually have to spend much more to get them. The James Wingtip is not quite as wide and has a thinner sole but is still substantial enough that I purchased them, too.

One of my favorite pairs of shoes. They have the sturdy confidence of boots with the looks of an oxford. They take a while to break in, but I am happy to wait. These shoes have convinced me to get more shoes from Frye.

Very cool, thought they would require more break in time and these are good right out of the box, heavy duty leather.

I bought this shoe because of the distressed black and white coloring that is seen in the picture. However, the actual distressed look is much more subtle than it appears in the picture. I suggest looking at different pictures of the shoe besides this one if you are considering buying this. The shoe is also considerably less comfortable compared to other similar style shoes that I own. Overall I'd say my purchase was not worth the money I paid.
