Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

My first Frye Boot, and definitely love them in every way. The look, the feel, they make my 5'1 stature feel like 6'tall. Worth every penny, and have to note: there are more affordable boots out there, in a similar style, but a Frye boot is not only made with care, has a guarantee for quality, is made in the U.S.A. (part of what you pay back for your quality), but will last a lifetime if you take care of them. I feel like this style of long lasting well made quality is very undervalued these days. This pair of boots not only looks great and feels great, but it fit the minute I put them on. They were comfortable beyond expectations, and I know I will have them for a very very long time. I love them in every way and feel I paid what they are worth (as much as feeling I got a deal for these great boots). Recommended very highly!

Such a stylish boot, but such a decline in quality from Frye! In comparing this boot to another pair of Fryes I bought a couple of years ago, I feel that the quality has gone way down while the price has remained the same. This boot simply is not worth the price. Frye, you're selling more boots than ever-- why skimp on quality now that you've established such a great reputation? It won't last if you keep making boots like this.

They are nice, but the are not worth the money. The leather is nice and soft, they feel 'broke in', but after spending one night in them, there is notably not enough cushion in them. I am disappointed, honestly. I save to buy Frye's, and I wore them w/o thinking I might not like them, and now can't return. And, I would. I would pay less for this boot, but this price, it's simply not worth it.

Love this boot! Not at all clunky; sleek, classic design. Very soft leather. Just enough heel height for my 5'2.5 frame. Note: the shaft is just a little wide for my straight leg jeans; boot leg pants will work better.
